I have a very good reason to use an alt: namely to blink on frigs (as I am very close to being locked out of Jita) so I won't be able to get them any more with my main character. So could we, for example, still use an alt but without using butan?

Use your main for blink... claim the price and after you claimed it create a private contract to your alt!?! Or just tell one of SOMER's corp to create contracts to your alt instad of your main.. iam sure they'll do it.

On a small blink, there are 8 tickets, so your odds of winning are X in 8, where X is the number of tickets you hold. In this case, each ticket has a 12.5% chance of winning. On the mega blinks, there are 16 tickets, so your odds there are X in 16, where X is the number of tickets you hold. In this case, each ticket has a 6.25% chance of winning. For blinks with other numbers of tickets, your odds are X in Y, where X is the number of tickets you hold, and Y is the total number of tickets. You can figure out the exact % chance by dividing the number of tickets you hold by the total number of tickets, and multiplying the result by 100.
