I dont get it. Why do i have to pay tax to a corp that i dont benefit from. I dont understand why players can just be rogue and not tied to any corp if they dont want to be doesnt make sense. |

You do benefit from NPC corps. War-dec protection. If 11% is too expensive, make your own corp. Not everyone thinks the same way you do. This doesn't automatically make them wrong. |

You do benefit from being in an NPC corp. Probably the most important advantage you have is that other people cannot declare war on your corp which means that, other than suicide-ganking, your ships are really quite safe in high-sec. darmwand Repossession Agent http://www.repo-corp.net/ Recruitment is OPEN |

Players should be able to 'go rogue' and be members of no corp, effectively going 'off grid'.
Ships in Eve are fitted with transponders which log your use of gates and which link your current clone to the clone network. Players should be able to remove the transponder or replace it with a fake of some kind. Without this transponder you would not appear in local and if you were pod killed you wouldn't wake up in the medical clone unless it was in the same system. You would be permanently dead, effectively biomassed. But you wouldn't appear in local, which would be great for some players.
NPC corps should be more interesting. It should be possible to war dec an NPC corp thereby putting your player corp at war with the NPC corp and its allies. You wouldn't be able to use their stations nor agents etc, you would be shot at by NPC navy units, they may even use cynos and hotdrop cap fleets on you (its their space, they can use caps and supers in their space). But you would be able to shoot at NPC corp members without CONCORD intervention. And if you could bring down their caps and supers you would have some good loot and salvage.
This should be hard core enough?

Create a corp with the same name as your character; then don't recruit anyone, set your taxes to zero. There, you are rogue. "The human body can be drained of blood in 8.6 seconds, given adequate vacuuming systems." |

MMO means just what it says - multiplayer. That doesn't imply any requirement to join a group of other players - it just means you can interact with others, which is unavoidable in EVE whatever your situation.
It's a source of perpetual bafflement to me that there are people who are congenitally incapable of having fun unless they're in a group, which by definition means restricted freedom of action. |

Ok, I don't see you like some as anti-social just one of the players that likes MMOs because you can casually mix and just as importantly the addition of people in a game adds an unpredictability AI's can't match.
NPC corps in this game do give the benefit of protection from war declarations. The NPC corp tax 11% was added to try and give an incentive for people to leave the NPC corps and join player corps. It not surprisingly failed to do so, it just created more solo corps and a few pissed off players. Which was always going to be the result.
So if you don't want to be in an NPC corp or player corp your only choice at this present time is to form a solo corp, but remember other player corps will be able to war-dec you. |

the op is not asking how to play solo or how to avoid corp taxes. op is asking why a pod pilot has to be in a corp.
Of course one can avoid corp taxes and other bull**** by forming its own corp. However, why should ve have a corp tag? Is there any explanation for this? we do not have to be in an alliance, so why do we have to be in a corp?
btw, playing solo has nothing do to with joining a corporation. You can play solo while youre in a corp and you can play with other people while youre not in a corp. |
