Well, it's been nearly a month and no word; bumping this thread in hope of progress
Technically, I still have three days
What I will do is speak to CCP Tyr tomorrow, who is the events manager at CCP, and see if I can get you guys an update on when we hope to have full details.
Did you mean by the end of October?

You really should! Iceland is such an amazing country and the nightlife in Reykjavik during Fanfest is worth experiencing at least once

Question for YOU, our dear Navigator : Is there still plan to host a poker tourney like last FF, as an official event (RL PvP !) You told us last year it was so successful you may extend it ! That was crazy and fun !

That's damn true, we've been scammed by CCP with the "free-shots" that never came. On the other hand, that was pure awesomeness to roam the center of Reykjavik with all the pilots who took part in it.

So.......What type of converter would be needed for a laptop charger or camera battery charger to go from the US plug to whatever is used in Iceland?

Schuko/Europlug, and obviously something to convert 230V @ 50Hz to 110/60. Anyway, it's the same as most of Europe. (odd places like the UK, Italy and so on excluded)

Check the fine print on the adapter: Big chance it says 110-240 V, 50-60 Hz, so all you need is an adapter for your plug... 10 bucks, tops, and most hotels can supply you with one sine its the thing people tend to forget, along with cell phone chargers.
..... booked, 15 March till 1st of April, skiing season is open in that period - got 2 spaces in the car for fellow geeks :-)

Good point, didn't think of that. On the other hand, nasty things can happen if they're not designed to handle twice the normal voltage.
Last year a guy from the US learned the hard way that Hotel Cabin didn't have adapters, so we checked at Hilton where I was staying. They did indeed ave adapters for sale or to borrow (I'm somewhat fuzzy on the details), but either way he couldn't have one.
The moral of the story is to either bring your own or check with your hotel beforehand. While finding a suitable adapter in a store on Iceland isn't too difficult, I'm sure you'll have better things to do while you're there...

Can confirm that Room With a View is a good place to stay there. Stayed there for a week during fanfest last year.

Can you arrive to Iceland by boat from somewhere close, considering the volcanoes go kaboom every now and then apparently, making plane landing there somewhat troublesome.

I think you have a boat from Denmark to Iceland east coast (with a stop in Faroe), Reykjavik is on west coast. Fanfest date can be find here: Linkage To make it short: "The next EVE Online Fanfest will be held on March 24 through March 26, 2011 at the Laugardalsh÷ll Convention Center in Reykjavik, Iceland"

Hrm.
US$886 roundtrip from Minneapolis (where I am) to Reykjavik. At a value of US$17.50 per PLEX, and an average going rate of 316 million ISK per PLEX... that's about 16.2 billion ISK...
No problem.

Check out http://fanfestcam.keithneilson.co.uk for details and this forum thread: http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1400054
It will only happen with your support.

That nordic light is reported to be worthy to see , any chance its "up" in that time of the year ?
( really... really know **** about iceland , what... i kind of would like to change )
