To be perfectly honest I'd hardly call EVE a game anymore. It's more of a simulation and a damn good one at that.

Confirming that eve is the crack, my pc is the crackpipe, and CCP is flava flav. When you say "fanboi" try to picture a fat man doing burlesque with 2 big ass fans that say CCP on one and HTFU on the other. Because that dude is me. |

Best thing CCP could ever do/did was selling gametime through isk. 9 out of 10 posters in this thread I would wager havent paid themselves money to CCP in a looooong time.

Agreed. EVE is the most conceptually interesting online game/simulation I've ever found. It is the benchmark against which I compare all the new shinies, and I suspect will remain so for sometime to come.

This. One I play due to not what it is. But what it can still be.

Like the real world, the Eve universe is not perfect, but like its real world counterpart it delivers visceral experiences that excite and heighten the senses. Stunning 'catch-your-breath' beauty, massive depth, pounding excitement, real danger and thrills, risk and reward, the opportunity to aquire vast wealth and the very real possibility that you might lose it all. Above all, it is a universe of limitless possibilities and thats what keeps players coming back for more.
Perhaps it is partly because of its flawed nature that Eve seems to offer a level of immersion and challenge that other games stuggle to even approach. One thing is for sure, Eve remains the persistent universe that all others are benchmarked against.
We may disagree over the fine print of some of the things that go on in Eve, but I can assure you that for most, participation is both a pleasure and a privelege and an experience that continues to deliver both wonder and amazement.

Eve is my heaven full of stars.if there is a cure for Eve i do not for one moment want it.Eve has most everything that my iminagination has always been.my regret is that it is not real world in my lifetime.excuse me while again I go to my heaven full of stars.Eve I came,I saw,and I explored. In all things yonder be Eve.

Just had my 5th birthday a few weeks ago and, as others have pointed out, whilst this game is flawed in many, many ways, it's completely singular in it's field and is a significant achievement,
I plan on being here for many, many years to come. .

It happens quite often to me in the last time. My corpmates say they never dreamed about eve or just can't remember.
I love eveonline - best game ever!

Edited by: Malios45 on 20/09/2010 01:56:25 EVE as it is right now is absolutely fantastic. The game environment is dynamic, detailed, and filled with nasty deadly pot holes .
But what excites me is the fact that even after 7 years EVE still has so much potential to grow. I can't imagine where the game will be in 10 years, and yes I believe EVE will still be here.

April '04 player/character, and I ran around in the beta for a while.
I've taken a couple breaks from Eve, but never truly left. I recruited four friends to play the game - none still do, but I remain.
I've watched Eve grow, seen the formal introduction of alliance mechanics, many new classes and versions of ships, thrown snowballs at corpmates, contributed to the birth of the first Titan, got ****ed when said Titan got destroyed, mucked about in wormholes a bit, roamed lo- and null-sec.
I've done most of the activities the game has to offer (except Planetary Interaction, which I'm not bothering with for now) including missions, ratting, mining, large and small scale PvP, industry, research, and cargo-hauling.
Eve is the only game I've ever played for such length, and is more of a hobby than a game.
So long as continued effort is put into expanding and improving Eve, you will continue to have my support.
So thank you CCP, for 7 + years of this. Here's to another 7.

Why don't you go and have a look and see for yourself. I recently pulled out of null sec because the game is just too broken for me to continue playing what used to be Eve endgame.
You're right though, its probably the best game I've ever played. If Eve was just some run of the mill multi player I couldn't give a **** about I would have stopped playing. It's because Eve is such a fantastic game that I'm so bitter about how CCP treats it.....like some barefoot, malnourished child everyone loves whose parents are looked upon with scorn and anger.

Glad you are enjoying it. In time you will find EvE is very rigid. In all its diversity it is a game where certain things work for certain conditions and that is the end all be all of it. I dont blame CCP. I dont even blame the player base. I just see it as a war between the two, where players scan down the mechanics not even knowing they are doing it, looking for cracks to exploit and manipulate in what is a very rigid game requiring abc mechanics and application.
It is one of the best games out there, I agree. It is 'broken right now in null sec I agree. CCP do well to keep it running and moving in an odd forward motion. Keep enjoying it, just avoid the high end aspects. They are plagued in disasters in mechanics and time demands most gamers arent prepared to take on. Me being one of them. |

About to hit six years. Quite simply the best game ever. If I ever do get bored (which I doubt), there's still more things for me to do yet, and more on the way!
CCP has always baffled me with the scope of their game and technologies. The only threat I see to EVE is another game by CCP. --

Hehe.. I have a few times. One of the best ones was when I had a remote controlled model of a Prophecy that was the size of a small car! I remember having great fun standing on a bridge over a motorway zooming it up and down, buzzing cars as it went, then cloaking and freaking people out. Imagine my disappointment when I woke up!
