The description says it all really if a ship has drones out and that ship is destroyed then the drones should automatically switch to suicide mode and attempt to ram into and cause suicide damage to their last target.

No, too many code and logistic problems with that. Perhaps a better solution is for when the ship that launched them dies, if they're set to "aggressive" and the "attack and follow" flag is active, they just keep attacking until they're destroyed or they lose target lock.

Sure, since ramming doesn't cause damage we can pretend that happens, and the end result is nothing changes.

Edited by: Valeriene on 19/09/2010 19:30:33 what about making the drones go off like small medium or large bombs when they suicide a target they got lock on obviously explosion size would depend upon drone sizes.

Ok suicidal drones is a great idea. Once you get waxed then they go auto rouge like they do for some NPC missions and keep fighting until they are destroyed or you can deactivate them with some sort of weapon (like a smartbomb maybe). It would make combat a little tougher if after I smoke somebody I have to worry about whether his drones are gonna come after me or not. And if I can deactivate them with a smartbomb it would FINALLY give me a reason to carry that one I have had sitting in my hangar for the last couple of months gathering dust.
But if I deactivate them then I should be able to scoop them to my cargo hold as loot so that I can either use them or sell them instead of having to ditch my drones to put them in my drone hold. Yargh. I be SGT Funyoun. King of the Pirates!!! |
