Is anyone esle getting problems with random disconnects during the game. Every now and then, when i click on something that actually requests something (like a ship movement, or a market request) the game just disconnects and boots me to the login screen. This is noticed on autopilot as im not requesting anything, the chat is quiet, then as soon as i say something...hello desktop.
Its not the computer as it does it on both. It isnt the internet as the other computer stays connected during the disconnect.
It started the same day everyone was getting blackholed and couldnt log back in again. I got stuck in Crielere that day but was fixed after the downtime.
I will submit a petition when I get home later but I just wanted some feedback first, it is making the game annoyingly unplayable. |

I have noticed this too. It usually happens after 5 minutes of inactivity (particularly in stations, less so in space), and you open something that requires your client to get data (market, cargo, most right click stuff) i get immediately booted to desktop.
This doesnt seem to be a computer or cache problem, as it exhibits the same problem on two PCs.

Same here, would CCP set it up to kick off inactive players? But generally I suffer 2 disconnects early on in the game then it seems to be stable.

Does anyone have an answer for this? If my mouse and keyboard are inactive for a short time, I am "lost connection to server". This started right after the last patch BEFORE exodus. I thought perhaps it was something I had done with my firewall or something, so I went through everything and made sure all my time outs were very high.
Why does the game seem to log some people off after a period of inactivity? Also it is not consistent, sometimes I'll come back and I'm NOT logged off? Wierd. Game logs me off multiple times a day now, like if my hauler is slow moving toward and ore field I log off, if I sit in a station it logs off, if I am just not hitting the mouse or keyboard something times out.
Please, what could it be? Can we fix it? Anyone have any ideas? Thanks |

OK DEVS and GMS AND board MONITORS, would you please get up off your big fat behinds and help some of us? There are multiple threads about this and its getting worse. I know many, many people with this problem.
ANY HELP AT ALL? No? Ok, fine, thanks as always.

Me too - I've generated over 20 crash log files because of this since Friday - Last night it wouldn't keep me connected for more then 2-3 minutes at a time - I knowits not my system, and I seriously doubt its my internet connection as it's wired and other internet applications don't have a problem.

I have more than my fair share of these, if I also count the type of crashes where the whole client simply vanishes without a trace or even a crash log
On some occasions there are pieces of Eve graphics stuck on my desktop which won't go away unless I reload the standard windows desktop or reboot the PC Damned inconvenient, and it has started to happen only during last couple of weeks...

Some of the things you all might want to consider, in complaining about CTD's, bad graphics, sound, etc., when posting on the forums, about your problems, is to include a description of your system. For example, mine is an Athlon AMD 3000+ XP, on a Soyo Dragon Ultra motherboard, FX 5200 256Mb 8x vid, 1 Gb pc2700 ram, 120Gb hd, Soundblaster 5.1 audio. My internet connection is, via cable, 3mbps down/128kbps up. According to the logs, I've had several CTD's due to manual shutdown and several due to a 0xC0000005 minidump error. My operating system is Windows XP Pro SP 2. All drivers are current for everything in the system. No other game or application shuts down for any reason, on its own, just EVE. I've tried examining the .dmp files that contain the exact error info, but don't have a program that can open them nor have i located one, on the web. They appear to be notepad or wordpad files, but neither will open them.
For those that don't know or aren't sure what's inside their computer, you can get a couple very good utilities that identify nearly everything inside the case, for free from www.download.com
I use SiSandra 2005 and Belarc's Advisor, both of which are available from the respective web sites or from download.com.

I had a disconnect problem with my Linksys Wireless A+G also. I discovered in my quest to lock down my network I had set my wireless computers to Static DHCP via MAC Address and I had set the DHCP Lease time to 9999. I had assumed that 9999 was a long time as 0 in the linksys documentation stated that 0 = 1 day lease. However, I kept getting dropped from Eve every 2-5 minutes and couldn't figure out why. After disabling Static DHCP and resetting the DHCP Lease time to 0 everything was fine. Not sure if this is your problem but you might want to check it. I also put one of my antennas up, the other sideways, to try to limit deadspots. I have heard, but not documented, that Wireless mice, cellphones, even Microwaves can disrupt your wireless connection. I personally tested a G network with a 2.44 ghz phone right next to the router and computer and did not notice a disruption....The microwave also didn't affect it...

I had a Corpmate last night trace down his problem. From what he learned Eve is written in Python. His computer has Python 1012 and Eve was calling for something from 1011. That is when the error occured for him. I have CTD problems as many others, but nothing really bad. It is great when one comp gets the 'lost connection to server' message and the 2nd comp is still running Eve fine. IMO the message should be changed to something like ... "This program ****** up, please relog".

It's definately not due to my being "Inactive", since it happened twice yesterday evening to me, once with a smallish swarm of cruisers and frigates trying to extract me from my battleship. The second time I was giving a level 3 Gurista Extravaganza a try when POOF! Login screen, server unavailable... :P
I do admit that it also happened just as I came out of warp to the Konola gate, there again though, I wasn't afk and it was two jumps from my home system in Inoue.

My wife and I run four accounts on three different computers - two on wired connections and one wireless. CTD's due to "lost connection to server" are happening with repeated frequency on all four. When running two accounts on the same machine one will get a "lost connection to server" error and the other will remain running. When running a single application per computer, one computer with a hard-wired connection will lose connection while another wired through the same router will not. There is definitely some inherent instability in EVE that is getting worse. --------------------------------------------
When all else fails, try being useful. It's a great way to win friends and influence people. |

I must say this new disconnection feature is just marvelous. Nothing is more fun then trying to dock at a station and everytime you are close, it disconnect. I manage now to log on quick enough just to see my ship warping away from the station it was supposed to dock.
Keep it up GMs

Hi all this bug is very annoying i must say how does the system decide what is inactive as it seems to happen when not active for 5 minutes, is this by not using the mouse?? not typing?? i have had this problem by sitting in the station for a while or mining, even by sitting by a gate for periods. The other day i sat in a station for 5 hours when I went out, I forgot to switch of computer lol I was still conected and able to go about my buisness when i came back on so I find it hard to understand why it seems to lose connection at the wrong times. This could be very nasty if you are a battle or war you dont want to lose connection when gate camping or mining in 0.0, i hope this problem is resolved soon as it can cause some serious problems to peoples ships and characters.

There are about 3 of these threads in this forum. As I said in another a while back, I have this problem. It started out of nowhere, with no changes to my system, on January 17th after running fine with no problems for 10 months or however long I've been playing this game.
I am wondering if anyone in any of these threads has gotten this fixed and can play the game now? I have been talking to support for a while now by email and nothing is making any difference.

Yes, I have this problem too. I've spent a lot of hours, about 20 hours total, working on my system, my isp, my cable modem, all the fiber optic cables with technicians I've brought in both from a consulting firm and my isp.
We have all come to the conclusion the problem is on the EVE side of the equation. After many emails back and forth with EVE staff, one of the GM's finally told me this was a known bug and would be completely addressed in the next patch (meaning the patch we just had).
Well it has not been addressed. My random disconnects still occur exactely as they have in the past.
Now hauling to stations is annoying because you get logged off before you can dock. Well, I partially solved that by targetting the station or other players over and over until I docked. The activity seems to help me not log off, sometimes. It seems like periods of inactivity cause the log off to occur.
The worst one is in 0.0 space I get logged off and then when I come back EVE forces me, against all my attempts to stop it, to fly to the nearest gate. This has cost me one ship so far.
Eve is famous for having many bugs and I guess that will never change. I guess in Iceland they have so much Ice they don't have bugs, so they can't figure out what a bug is nor how to kill it. |

I experience the same ever since.. I don't remember the patch. The disconnects I get drop me back to my login screen with a message saying "Connection to server lost", with no recognizable reason/trigger. Doesn't seem reproducable to me, I'm usually docked and just chatting when it happens (not exclusively though).
