Fellas, I am building (read envisioning) this Paladin around soloing C4 holes and I was wondering how important it would be to have it cap stable in view of the possible neuting I might receive from sleepers. Anyway, this is the fit that I had mind, do tell me how bad it is and why!

Last time I checked, light drones are used in missions.

Edited by: TheMahdi on 20/09/2010 08:26:25 Sleepers target drones.
Hobgoblins alone won't do enough damage to kill them quick enough. If you try to micro them by going in and out, it will take you all day to kill them and in alot of C4 anoms/mags/radars there is RR which you will not break with drones alone.
Actually, thats just one of the problems with solo C4. Even a Legion or Tengu fit for C4 will not break alot of the RR in C4 sites to be able to finish them.
Also you will have trouble on the harder C4 sites with that tank.
Edit: to actually answer your question, the nos/neut in Sleeper sites is minimal and I never noticed an issue in stability in any C3 or C4 I have done solo in my Legion.
Also, a pimp fitted Legion with the right implants CAN solo C4 anomalys but you will not break some of the RR solo. Not even in a Tengu, and most definetly will have trouble in a Paladin with cruisers and frigates.

I would really want to demonstrate you how bad neuting, warp scrambling and webbing can be in a class 4 wormhole. Please send me an ingame mail with your location and the WH sig you operate in.
Thanks,

I don't think 1 web will be enough for you to hit frigates. I could be wrong if your skills are max.
I was helping a friend out so we used RR Abaddons (he couldn't fly a T3), both had webs and TCs with tracking scripts fitted and both uses Mega Pulses with faction MF. There was no way in hell even with 2 webs could we hit those frigates.
How did we manage to do CLASS 3 sites? T1 hobgoblins, we just zerged them and with webs they got them down but we lost many hobgoblins and it was hardly fast. It was still much slower than killing other things.
To be honest, if you want to do C4 solo, you really need a Legion or a Tengu. And theres no room for utility slots.
And that still doesn't explain how you are going to break some of the RR that goes in in the harder anoms. The 2 easier anoms, sure.

When frigs orbit you close, even four faction webs wont help against hitting it for some reason...

1 ship probably won't break the RR of the last wave of Barracks.
Only a very pimped, very tanked T3 will survive the 2nd wave of Info Sanctums.
But hey, you could maybe do Command Posts. Enjoy the 12 frigates in that site and the turrets you don't get to loot.
For soloing, C3s are just gonna be better isk per hour, really.

Pulse Legions pop sleeper frigates very fast. I don't even bother targeting frigates with my Tengu, as the Legion will pop them just as I get a lock.
I'd be surprised if you could solo a C4 in a Paladin, as we are finding it requires at least 1200 DPS tank on cruiser sized T3 hulls (150m sigs).
Avoid spawning the last wave of sites that have 4 Sleepless safeguards. They are extremely nasty!

Drone aggro is pretty savage when you're solo. I suspect you would lose all of your drones on the first of the regular combat sites that has 8 frigates (4 scram, all web) at the start, after which you'd basically be stuck in space.
T3s are much better for this because their guns are smaller and do BS-like DPS. If you can't hit the frigates (which scram) then you will be screwed.

Wonderful feedback, I guess I can kiss C4s goodbye and go for C3s. Gonna try to break those frigs with 2x -90% speed webs, if that doesn't work I guess I'll just have to call it quits.

You're not listening to what people've told you. Ditch the paladin (unless you're in a gang with something able to kill frigs effectively) and get a Legion or Tengu.
Otherwise this is what happens: 4 frigs spawn, web & kill all your drones. You double web one and begin shooting at it, the preserver cruisers or battleship (that also happes to trigger the next wave, containing yet more frigs) will RR it. You are unable to break the frigs tank, nor to shoot the RR source. You are scrammed. Your dirscanner begins to fill with nasty who shortly afterward land 2km from you and provide you with a most expedient solution to your problem.
Actually nvm, go for it. Dunno wtf I was thinking.

The paladin will die. Its as simple as that.
Class 3s are not easy to solo but id never ever try in a Battleship the sig is too high. Go with a T3 and you wont go wrong.
Additional....100MN MWD adds what 450% sig to a BS which means when those 2 sleepless defenders hit you theyre gonna HURT YOU LIKE MAD.

Very few players solo C4 anoms or sigs, simply because of the time required to complete them. You're far better off (in terms of isk/time) solo-ing C3 sites which you'll complete far quicker. Don't see many Marauders in C1-4 W-space nowadays either; it's getting pretty crowded in here, and your proposed Pally will have a very short career if it's spotted (and it will be). The ships of choice are Tengu/Legion for C3. C4 sites are best done with an RR BS gang for isk/time. In wspace it may seem quiet, but appearances are pretty much always deceiving.

3B is a crazy amount to spend on a wormhole ship anyway. Tengus/Legions built to run c3s and c4s usually cost around 1B total. Also, sleepers neuts are irrelevant. Its actually a nos and has never had an effect on my perma run setup which is BARELY cap stable.
Basic rule of thumb for good c3/c4 isk:
If solo, run C3s in a legion or tengu. If 2-3 people, run c4s in a local tanked tengu (preferably) or legion (less ideal). You can solo every c4 site in a tengu, but it can take a while due to the RR.
If people don't have the local tank for a c4, then blitzing c3s works too just try to make sure you stay efficient.

No you gotta for the :
Nanoribbons [5 mil each]
Ancient coordinated [1.5 mil each and there's alot of them]
Sleeper drone AI Nexus 5 mil each and 1 per BS
You can make 250 mil per day easilt soloing class 3s

Not really.
One trick some people do though is clear 3-4 sites (remember to make a BM before you warp off from each) and then come back and loot/salvage them all in quick succession afterward.

Oh, the drudgery of solo wormholing! 250m/day sounds doable in high sec as well, risk free, with a Marauder. Guess I'll just stick to my carebearing.

per day quotes are stupid anyway, as it depends heavily on how much you play.
C3 wormholes should provide between 70m and 100m an hour. Should compare favorably to any highsec occupation, even if you do get ganked someday.

While I agree C3 can yield 70-100mil/hour (up to even 120mil/hour depending on drops).
The logistical effort of living and farming a wormhole far outweighs the gain over high sec.
The best way is simply an Orca alt, either train for one or buy one. It stays cloaked in a safespot, no fuel costs, no risk. It can easily hold your T3, salvage destroyer and cov ops frigate.
Minus the opportunity cost of 300mil/month for paying for that account and it's still more practical than a POS since it is mobile and requires a lot less effort then moving fuel.
I did this for quite a while and made a fair bit of ISK in a C3 with my Legion, however the frustrating D-scan and repetitiveness eventually got to me.
Sure, it was exciting at first and very profitable but eventually you get to the point where, hitting D-scan constantly and being paranoid when switching ships in the Orca gets to you and you go back to your peaceful and just as profitable high sec carebearing.
Good luck, it's still a fun expedition.

TRUTH! i stopped living in my C3 as my nerves got too frayed from constantly hitting the dirscan and the paranoia of always being ready to get ganked.

Solo'ing in a large ship in WH space will get you ganked eventually. I'm using a dual small Pithi b-type shield booster Loki and doing C3s is pretty easy. Shields never drop bellow 90%, and so far I was able to do all sites. You need falloff rigs though (or TE) to hit those annoying cruisers webbing you at 40k though, and it's definitely not super fast. Without a salvage alt it's also quite tedious to refit all the time to do the salvaging.
Overall, I'm still not convinced C3s are as profitable as officer hunting in 0.0...and maybe not even as safe. _______________

Expensive fitted tengu with a ton of missiles can solo C4 (but it won't get all spawns and you'll lose money). Also - if you decide to use BS sized ships(around 4 to be safe) you can use a domi with ogre 2s to kill frigates - they won't get targeted when you're in a gang and are real frigate destroyers.
