Trying to figure out what would be the best damage type for sleepers. All skills being equal, would you go with Lasers, Hybrids, Projectile, or Missiles? And then what type, short or long?
Leaning towards Lasers right now. Maybe missiles. Making the assumption of not looking at drones at all so any ship that maximizes the turret/bay damage would be better.
Thoughts?

IIRC, Sleepers omni-tank. That is, they have flat resists for each of their tank layers.
So the logical type of damage to do would be: OVERWHELMING

yep
EDIT: 70/70/70/70 resists in armor, no hull resists, no shields at all
so if you using say projectiles, go with RF EMP or RF Fusion or RF Phased Plasma
if Caldari and missiles go with Scourge/kinetic
if Amarr, go lasers with Imp Navy multifrequency
if Gallente, Blasters do the most dps you just got to actually get up to the target and apply it heh.
so to recap, pick which weapon system you can field the most dps with and use it.
For myself, I either use Drake + T2 Scourge Fury or CN kinetic HAMs, or Cane/Sleipnir + RF Fusion (or EMP)and autocannons.
Trying to keep Sleepers at range is mostly futile, they'll be right up your bunghole quick if they decide that is what they want to do. So I typically plan to fight up close (and players always show up anyway so got to keep them in mind when fitting)

Yeah, but say you have equal skills in all weapon types, what would put out the most dps? I realize sleepers are omni resists, so the dps is all that matters.
Weapons aren't all the same are they?

Edited by: triafrenum on 22/09/2010 00:12:23 It would help if you said what kind of ships you would be flying. Ie. if your doing t3's a tengu would be the best. Also if the ship is going to need rr on it or if the rest of the gang will take care of it. Pure eftwarrioring blasters do the most dmg but they have other drawbacks like they blow really hard and are for eftwarrioring purposes only.
But the main thing is:
1. get eft if you dont already have it 2. plug a fitting in and look at the dps number 3. compare this number to the number on other fits

Having only dabbled around in holes (ED: on second though, that sounds...bad), take this advice with a grain of salt:
But lasers seem ideal for wormholes to me. They have the best range/DPS balance, and don't worry about ammo in the same way the rest of EVE does.
But the more constructive route might be to ask what the best ships to use in wormholes are, and based on popularity it would seem to be missile ships like the Tengu.

Well, let's just use T3 cruisers as an example.
vs Frigates: Legion w/ Heavy Pulse Laser II vs Everything Else: HAM Tengu

Bah, yeah sorry. We were looking at Battleships. Right now the Abaddon looks like the best but wondering about other options. I've done wh's before in a Dominix and the drones were nice until they started attacking them.
I've used EFT but just trying to get a sense of what people have done. Fits are not likely to be the same per ship. Also, we aren't looking at using a T3 yet but it would be the Proteus anyway based on skills atm.

Edited by: Boltorano on 23/09/2010 04:55:25 Just skip the Proteus, it is not worth using against Sleepers. Cannot get into blaster range, and medium railguns do awfully poor damage compared to pretty much any other option.
If you're going the Amarr BS route, consider a pulse Apocalypse. Do not underestimate the value of Scorch L with the Apoc's range bonus.
