New character portraits, new players only?

And, from that quote, it could be read that people only get the new portraits (for this xpac) with a new char.

It would look ******ed if some were left with old faces while others had new ones. If you can read a statement in two different ways, one of which is logical and fits with context and prior statements, and the other of which seems weird... which one do you go with? While I can (with some effort) get that maybe the phrasing can be taken the wrong way, it's really a stretch to me. -----

Posted - 2010.09.21 20:36:00 - [15] Since the current portraits are nothing but jpg files, saved from the renders of the character creation, and there is nothing new introduced but a new character creation system, not a new in-game way of displaying the portrait, it is highly likely that only new characters will get a new "type" of portrait. These new ones when shown in-game and here, will still be plain old jpg files ;)

Current features will allegedly be imported, but the portrait won't look exactly the same as it does now, so you get a "free portrait change" since it lets you change it any way you like. They even talked about refunding people that actually paid for a portrait change (a short while before Incarna goes live) in some way, since it "would be unfair" to charge them but give one for free to anybody else. Search the forums if you want confirmation, it's there somewhere, and my recollections are good enough for me so I won't bother seaching it for you. P.S.
