Captain Futur3	Posted - 2010.09.23 13:06:00 - [1] I was on singularity to see what CCP has done so far and what they mean with amazing new visuals. So far, i am absolutely unimpressed. I dont think that they have put all the new visuals on SISI so far, but at least a new explosion is available. I want to explain to you, why i am very unimpressed and disappointed with it so far: - Actually, every ship i have destroyed (from frig up to battle ship size) has the same explosion what sucks the most. CCP still has not learned from the forum in the last 7 years that not static, but dynamic content is the key to entertain the players. - Ship explosions of ships which are several hundred meters long should not explode in a sec and instapop. - Explosion sizes and durations should scale with the ship sizes, also some big ships should first burn out before they explode or fall appart. Really, if this is the final status of explosions we will see in the next expansion, i must say, the effects still are from the year 2005 at best and not up to date. Please, someone at CCP, can you confirm or not, if thats the final explosions we will get or not. Thank you. Dont misunderstand me, eve is a game that does not need top grafics, but at least battles should look interesting and spicey instead of booring and unspectacular. And before you try it: NO! Visual effects like explosions will NOT increase server lag at all.

During the other overhauls of effects so much stuff appeared on si-si that wasn't on the final TQ build and plenty of things were added later, it is after all the TEST server. Wait and see

OP.. you may very well have a valid point, i just dont see why people cant wait until it is actually launched... So this is not ment as a personal attack, but more like a "mr Cocojambo is flipping due to premature complaints"..

You are right, but the intention behind this post was, that "if i am right and this is the final state of explosions" then this thread and your responses would show CCP that the explosion like it is, is not enough to satisfy the players and then they will work more on it. You know, if the expansion is online, we will have to wait at least another half year - i bet even longer because effects are not part of every expansion, until we get better explosions. So its more like "CCP, the explosions are not good enough" so far post :P

Don't really get how "omg new graphics will slow old comps down" is a reasonable argument when it will obviously be a check box... 2004 graphics in 2011 on a game that is supose to be visually expressive is kinda pathetic at best.

Now them seem... Too bland.
Fulmar Muse	Posted - 2010.09.24 03:40:00 - [17] if they srted out the shadows, id like them, only a bit more tho, cos I like CCP quite a larra larra anyways, use and push CCC or nvidia control... makes the graphics look amazing esp on the higher settings, + if this is why tranquility isn down atm, because you want explosions to look like a nuke just blew up the moon, then shame on you, i want my midnight "woken up coughing like a badger @5am" go, whilst I hunt down a cigarette in the pitch black... PUT THE SERVER ON NOW

I'm tired of those cheap b*stards always using that as an excuse for ccp not to improve the graphics engine to what it should be in 2010. Directx 11 and shader model 5 is where EvE should be! Plus like someone else mentioned...people with crap computers won't be putting the settings on high.

My clients have most if not all visual effects turned off -- along with all sounds and reduced damage notifications. No need for distractions during fights or the accompanying client performance reduction. EVE is still a Powerpoint slide show PvP game in the big fleet fights. No need for the frills in those instances. I am curious what others experience in smaller (10 v. 10, for example) fights with all effects turned on and all ships on-grid with modules activated and violence intended.
