hi guys jsut a though what do you all think about being able to use wasted sp into somthig you use. say when u started game you stared mineing now you more into pvp and have x amount of SP into mineing ie crystals hulk or orca or what ever. would it not be good to be able to transfer them sp into somthig that is usfull to you today, insted of having to jsut train somthing else and have all them wasted sp jsut sitting there. |

If there was a way to set this up without people abusing it.. I would be down for it... but I think the best version of this type of thing I have heard was where you trade in SP you earned for 50% of its time value... aka if you have a skill that took 2 days to train, you could get 1 day of training in exchange. This way their is significant reduction in value of changing skills. But even that has some potential flaws that I probobly cant see. |

i dont mean like o today i want to pvp swap tomorrow mine again swap back. but mabe being able to change them at some loss like you say 50% or 75% or somthing like that. would be good and keeep people playing the game. that leave becasue they are bored off what they are doing and not willing to put the time iito it to carry on playing while they wait the x amout of time to be able to do the thig they fancy tryig now.
mabe like the remap we have atm.
and also think that needs to be brough i from 12 months to 6 months but thats a different post lol :)
mabe being allowed to transfer the sp every 6 months or somthing or even a isk cost to doing it every 6 months so there is a loss of time training and a cost per sp or what ever |

And what would this do to skill book prices? Why should I pay 300mil for a skill book, when I can buy a 1 mil skill book with same total SP requirement to master (and if I'm smart, in my strongest attributes) then remap the points.
No, bad idea. If you want to break into a new area you haven't trained for, yes, it will take time, but that is a good thing. Patience is a virtue. "The human body can be drained of blood in 8.6 seconds, given adequate vacuuming systems." |

This is a fairly terrible analogy given that eve skills are packs of information downloaded directly into our brain through an artificial interface, hardly like what we learned at school. If the ability to write is there than it is a small step to have the ability to overwrite or rewrite. |

So you have simply forgotten the actions or sequence of a skill but found that you could recover it very quickly after a brief tutorial, creating such terms as 'like riding a bicycle'. The only people that I know of who have completely unlearned a skill usually suffer amnesia.
Personally I can see the threads now. People will be looking at their character sheet wondering why they took X skill that they never use so they remove it, and then find out that they suddenly can't fly half the ships they own because its a prereq. Then we'll see the threads saying how they made a stupid mistake and ccp needs to come fix that stupid and everyone will be all like you did it, now you gotta live with it and stuff. |

As much as I would want skill points returned for things I might not be using anymore, no thanks. Choice is choice.
On a side note for exploitability. Jump start your wallet with PI.
Have +5 implants. Perfect attribute mapping. (getting around 2700sp/hr) Max all PI skills. Earn enough iskies to outfit your hanger with the nicest monacle accessories.
Done? Refund skill points from PI. Train points into non-mapped skills. Less time for the same amount of SP's.
I think this could be done over and over and you would beat the 20 year queue. (I'm not going to do the maths.) But still not very useful.
And as it is now, if you train PI to earn isks to get a jump start on life(eve is real) then you've made the choice to train and use PI. No refunds. No sig here. |

I would support a one-time PER ACCOUNT redistribution of 1-3 million SPs after 12-18 subscribed months. It would allow players to recover skillpoints wasted in noob mistakes and dead-end career exploration, and be a reward for staying with the game.
The key is to avoid the potential for someone to respec their skills for the latest craze in ship fittings. The Skunkworks is recruiting. -áhttps://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1540711#post1540711 |

My ship module skills I want to keep. It's the aborted career path I'd like to reclaim. I can fly a hulk and have decent industrial skills. I no longer have any desire to use those skills.
I got this far without it and if I never get a skill respec, I'll be fine with that. But if it were available, I'd reclaim 2-3 million SP and either jump into being able to fly a cap ship, or train up the remaining battleships that I can't fly. Or maybe just get all the racial frigates to 5 and finally train to fly interceptors and interdictors.
I'm at that point that it will take me 60-90 days to complete any meaningful training plan to add a new ship to my roster. That can be frustrating.
Oh...maybe they could make it an option for the Christmas present? 1 million SP remap, one per account per year. (just tossing out ideas to propel discussion) The Skunkworks is recruiting. -áhttps://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1540711#post1540711 |

I was waiting for that word. Consequences. It's kinda funny, because while the whole game is and should be about consequences, some only want consequences for certain things.
For instance, skill remaps should not be allowed because, consequences. However, nobody should be banned from hisec due to a tanked sec status (-5-10). I'm just pulling that one at random, I could easily say that miners want to mine freely during a time of civil unrest, but don't think they should have to sacrifice yield for tank. In both instances, there are consequences.

I kind of see it as resume material. Yeah I haven't anchored a space structure for over a year, but I can do it and that may be useful to somebody else. |

So there is so many info how to play plan and creat your style in skill books. I have zero wrong skills. Because i planned before i play eve that was back in 2008. it take me 10 days to plan 4 year skill tree. Or you are a player that starts from day 1 well then ok perhaps ccp can let say people that played sinds start the have a option perhaps to reskill. But well is that realy needing? |

Respecs are for games that lock you into a single class/skill tree that you can never get out of. EVE is not that kind of game. If you want to do something else, you can GÇö just train it and get going. As such, EVE doesn't need a respec system and introducing one would, in fact, be pretty darn harmful to the game. It tries to solve a problem that doesn't exist to begin with, and in trying to apply a solution from some other game to this non-problem, EVE would inherit a whole slew of other problems that never existed either from that other game. The truth always eventually comes out in these threads. This isn't about the new players at all, it's the players who train FOTM. And when CCP makes changes that these players don't agree with, their skills become 'wasted' and they want them transferred over to the next FOTM skill set.
The point reduction is a masked piece offering as well. A player can easily train up several x2 skills in a fraction of the time it would take to train up and x8, and then convert them over essentially allowing them to train faster.
This would also break the character bazaar as well. People won't get as much for their specifically trained characters as players can just grab a cheaper character with other skills and retrain them in a matter of minutes. |

Umm - you are aware that a x2 only takes 1/4 of the SP a x8 takes?
SP/hour are the same, so redistributing SP between them wouldn't change anything.
Anyway, reditributing skills is a terrible idea for many other reasons, but i don't feel urged to repeat them as most have been mentioned and I'm quite certain CCP wont allow it. You know... morons. |

If anything, training skills backward without any benefit would be okay.
So basically, it takes the same time to untrain a skill level as it took to train it - no benefit or reimbursement.
I'd actually do that with some skills just for a cleaner skillsheet. You know... morons. |

That I'd like just to clean up. And older players could train down skills they don't need to keep clone cost down. As long as reverse training follows the prerequisite hierarchy, for example, you couldn't untrain weapon upgrades if you've got advanced weapon upgrades trained.
This way, players cannot get rid of "unnecessary" prerequisite skills with out removing the skill they need, thus keeping the skill tree intact. "The human body can be drained of blood in 8.6 seconds, given adequate vacuuming systems." |

Of course the hierarchy should be maintained, but I'd definitely get rid of e.g. the annoying 250 SP in Industry just to get rid of that category.
On one character, I trained all kinds of skills to V during a period of decreased activity without spending much thought on it, so afterburners V got inthere, which is a disadvantage when e.g. flying dual prop ships - doesn't make the character useless, but I'd untrain it if given the possibility.
I was lazy, it was my own fault, so I deal with it, but spending a couple of days to just get rid of it would be nice. You know... morons. |

No SP are ever wasted , you do not know when you will need those skills one day besides if a new player trains what he thinks is a wasted skill the loss is only minimal, if a older player thinks he wasted time training a 'useless' skill his own fault , besides i have a feeling you looking for the instant ' I win ' button I do not agree with what you are saying , but i will defend to the death your right to say it...... sell a pirate pvp char for a pvp char why would i do that? that statment above was as an example of common skills people train in the start of a char then never use again...
but like i have said 3 times now None of my chars have ay problems it was more a discustion of a way to help some players stay in game when they get bored off the way they have been playing. with out going aww ok i spent x amount of time being a Miner now i need to start fresh to move over into pvp to say fly a BS its going to take me 2-3month or what ever they could trasnfre said learned sp to that lie. but no mater
no more replys are needed the public have said its a bad idea and i accept that. :)
i jsut want this game to keep its numbers and mabe grow a little more then it is atm as its awsome played o my main account since 2006 and love it |

For those of you that can't understand a word of that.

To answer your question, no. Because it is simply your own fault for training said skills in the first place.

As others have said, if it's not abused.
I really like the idea in general. Obvious constraints would be an ISK cost, and an appropriate cooldown.
But as you can see from some of the responses, this is a hot button item for a lot of players who think it will ruin the sandbox by providing a pathway to compensate for your undesireable choices.
I look at differently: it's all about flexibility. I made so many bad choice on my first toon. Over time, I've ironed them out. But what about intentional choices that were not simply errors? This is where the flexibility to change skill sets would be really cool. You could enjoy new aspects of the game that would be otherwise unattainable in any kind of a reasonable time frame. Of course, over time, you will train through so many different skills that you will be inherently flexible and baddazz.
And if I can expand this topic a little, I have always thought that we should be able to do neural remaps every month. Again, for the felxibility. RIght now, I have a training plan set up for Int/Mem on my main. It is over one year long. It would be much more useful and effcicient to train for SOME Int/Mem skills now, back to Perc/WIll in a month+, then Perc/Char for a month+ after that. If everyone can do remaps every month, then we have flexibility for all with nobody at an advantage.
Oh well. Fun to talk about, but none of this will ever happen. |

If EVE is to reflect reality, the reality is much like this:
"Use it or lose it"
If you have trained up to fly a class of ships / skill reprocessing ore and haven't used it in 12months, that pool of knowledge is probably unlearned to a large degree. Not 100% gone, but your finesse is lost in that skill.
What was lost, is invested in what you currently do.
Of course, we end up with an artificial cap on knowledge where you can't be great at everything. Say for example, everyone has 100mill skill points. When you train your 100,000,001th one, you pull that from a pool of skills that have just not applied to your current role in the game.
Talk about tough to code (all that house keeping you would have to do) :-)
In real life, this is obviously true.
In an RPG, wow that's tough to challenge.
Expectations are that you learned it once, you can pull it out of your hat any time.

Nope the idea is that you choose skills carefully as you will have to live with the consequences, If your in the game long enough you tend to find that no skill is wasted as you may need it sometime.
Otherwise the SP system would be a bit of a Joke.

Yes. When Learning skills were available, it was 2770sp/hr because of the skill "Learning"
You get (Primary)+(Secondary)/2 SP per minute.
Your base is 17. You get 14 points to remap, with a max of 10 points in one stat. You can have +5s for implants.
