What else do you have to do when gringing missions other than pimp your skills and ships isk earning efficiency? The vargurs superior mission completion time due to superiour range and its ability to efficiantly salvage as you kill means that you spend less time gringing isk and moar time pew pewing in a pvp situation useing said mission isk to fund the said pew pew. So realistically its simply your call on your personal use of your eve play time. ZOMG!!! |

Cant fly nightmares unfortunately. Also why pimp a maelstrom like that? Better pimp a pimp ship...

This TBH. If you're going to spend that much isk on a mael, and you really dont want a vargur, get a mach. Much better bang for your buck. I'd also suggest investing in a tengu leadership alt. They're not hard to make unprobable/they can be left in a POS, and give a good 70-90% increase to your tank once they're skilled up (depending on how many resist mods you use as the resist ganglink stacks with hardeners) |

We are talking about sleepers, not lvl4 missions. I am fairly certain a mach can't get the required local tank. The mach is a nano-gank BS in the flavor of the tempest. It's by no definition a tanky ship. The vargur on the other hand has the same tanking bonus as the maelstrom but with slightly better EM/therm resist, 50% more falloff, 37.5% better tracking and 50% reduction in ammo usage. It also has more than twice the cargo hold and 40km tractor beams or 3 utility highs.
Thus far you shall read, but no further; for this is my sig. |

Looks like there's some good loot to be had in your system!

This :)
My eyes light up when I enter a new wormhole and find a faction/t2 BS and some wrecks on scan. Gets even better if they're doing the combat sites - no probes needed to find them :)

Vargur is used as auto-cannon ship - not artillery ship.
If you are doing mission in space where rats drop good salvage, then obviously Vargur is better choice since you can salvage and loot on the fly while killing rats.
That is why you want to kill rats in range < 40 km so you could tractor beam wrecks without moving around much .
If you don't want to loot and salvage on the fly, then there is no reason to use Vargur.

Bytheway is it okay to assume that the Vargur is able to do Blood raider 6/10's? My maelstrom does it with arties, but takes like an hour hehe.
