Try wormhole space for some of the 'old' style eve, i.e. the numbers are at least a bit smaller.
Fighting 200 guys vs fighting 20k is alot differant, wit ha 2-5% FLeet rate which most alliances get for Roams etc a 200 man used to get a 10 lets say 15-20 man gang, while the opponent might field a 5-10 man gang, this was totally able to overcome.
The Fleets now you insta pop, this isnt fun, and yes I have sen you apeture guys have much success and I think its very cool, but I really would like a way to make it not all about numbers.
Numbers back in the day used to be important, but even loot at some old Kessah videos, of him taking on 5-6 guys and winning or escaping, this is virtually impossible now. Hell a 10 man gang is just a bait force now.
I like that eve has grown but I agree its combat system hasnt with the numbers. There needs to be some interdiction, I have seen alot of IDas, targeting Nerf, WH Mass like Entrance of Cap size into system at one time, Adding more systems that are designated like WH`s with entrances limited by ship type but still connected to K SPace etc and between those you might get 1 solid Idea.
If I started Eve now I would basically have 2 CHoices, stay Carebearing for 2 Years then go NC or some other huge entity or FW to NC or other huge entity, or Jump right into a Pirate Lowsec corp and then go huge etity, there really is a shrinking number of elite smaller forces that can do much in Eve when it comes to sov.
Anyways Eve will always be my first love and Ill defend it to the Death to others but it has become redundent, and I totally agree that SMal Scale PVP is almost gone in Null Sec, LoSec you can barely make a living esp compared to Carebearing in HISEC so its 2 Routes Carebear in Null, and join a part time PVP alliance where like NC where Hi Ends and Sov owning comes first or Stay in Hisec and Trade/Carebear.
Guys like PL/CH are few nd far between, and it makes me sad. Take what you Can, when you can. |
