Being part of UKC has been a major part of my enjoyment of Eve, they are a great bunch of chaps (and chapesses) and the chat channel and voice comms are always friendly. Always room for new players! We have had 4 or 5 join recently and they are already part of the family

Theo, you should have no issues with the UKC. My style of play is like yours, I also like self achievement but also group activities. There is certainly no pressure in the UKC to do anything, but we do have a weekly group mining session which you are encouraged to attend. It's actually quite good fun, seeing how quickly 20+ of us can clear a belt
I only ever listen on Vent, and that is no issue either for the other corp-ees

Theo, it can just run through normal speakers, like other sounds from your PC. If you are planning to speak too, a combo headphones/ microphone setup is best, and isn't that expensive.

Been in the corp for 3 months now, and there's never a dull moment. No matter what you like to do in Eve (apart from pirates, sorry guys), the corp can accomodate you. From cheap (free in some circumstances) ships/ mods, to help, advice and teamwork, UKC has it all.
