Split on which to get for missions. I'm not near EFT atm so I can't compare the DPS between them. Can a Navy Issue beat the DPS of a Paladin? I THINK it can't since the Paladin get's 100% damage bonus (so 4 turrets is like having 8?).
Cons of getting a Paladin: Would have to wait at least 2 months to train up the skills. Can fly a Navy Issue right now.
Not too big on salvaging (mostly just on the go while missioning, if anything), going to focus on rewards, bounties, and LP's instead.
So is it worth investing the time into a Paladin? ____________________

I'd look into a navy Armageddon if you want to increase your DPS output. ~_~

The paladin has 4 guns with 100% bonus plus 5% dmg/level of marauders skill, so it definitely has greater turret DPS by up to 25%. Apoc gets the range bonus tho, so she can reach a bit further with MF.

Apoc has trouble fitting tachs, and megapulse eats scorch like candy corn.
Paladin has an easier time fitting tachs, half the ammo usage, has a damage bonus, rep bonus, web bonus.....
Adv Weapon Upgrades 5 is nice to have, Amarr Battleship 5 is sweet and you'll want that anyway. Energy Grid Upgrades 5 and the Marauders skill(to a lesser extent because you can use it later for the other marauders) are harder to justify.
Consider training shield + caldari battleship and using a nightmare. Later on you can train marauders and have the nightmare for drone/sansha/blood raider missions and have golem/vargur for guristas/angel missions.

But the navy geddon can hold 5x sentries + 5x mediums .. have one more low slot and one more rig slot. Im not that sure that paladin wins. Maybe just because of the tanking bonus could be easier to manage.

Since the Apoc's bonuses are tied to cap use and range, you can easily change out to a projectile setup to deal with those pesky missions that have extremely high EM/Thermal resists and where explosive is your best bet.

Try fitting 7 tachyons to a navy geddon, then see what happens to that rig/low slot advantage.

Try fitting a full rack of Tachs to anything and see how that works. No, really. It's only fully viable on, let me count, two ships. A few others can wedge them in -- barely.
But to get back to the original question, wasn't this about the navypoc and not the navygeddon? There's an off chance a Navy Geddon will win against a Paladin/Nightmare on certain missions. But I have very serious doubts about the Navy Apoc.

Get a Nightmare if you just plan on blitzing. It's like a Paladin but with moar pew and spikes.

Fly a Navy Apoc or Armageddon while you train for the Paladin. The Paladin is sex on wheels (minus the wheels). The Nightmare is also nice, but that requires cross-training.
If you like to salvage on the go, the Paladin is the ship for you. The larger cargohold is very nice as well. --- This doesn't even seem to be a regular case of rats fleeing the sinking ship. Seems more like the rats are on fire, the ship is on fire, and the sea is full of drunk Russians. - Jacob Etienne |

try to progress like this
apoc > abadon > navy apoc > nightmare or paladin
nightmare for blitz , paladin for loot rich missions
eventually since you already use caldary bs for nightmare you will want to train golem for maximum pew pew and all around mission coverage with nightmare paladin and golem you can do everything efficiently. Eternal Will. |
