How about allowing people to setup hotkeys for things like scanning. I noticed that when messing with probes it can become tedious moving them all independently when I don't want to move all of them in a single group. If it were possible to select say 3 out of 8 probes and assign them to group 1 and then the rest to group 2 It would help speed up the process of scanning down ships or sites.
Also this could be applied to activating modules. It would be nice to group more than just guns together and if you could assign them to a hot key like units are tied to a hot key in RTS games I think it would improve "controls" of the game. Even if it weren't a good idea to apply it to activating modules it still would help alot with scanning.
Thoughts?

Edited by: Persona n0ngrata on 10/10/2010 03:46:04 Hot keys in general on eve are horribly broken and useless. The idea of a hot key is to have a key on your keyboard that gives quick and easy access to an asset, item, ability, or basic movement.
What is currently on eve needs to be redone completly to allow the keyboard to be used for hotkeys when a chat window is not selected. But instead we have a complicated series of keys that need to be pressed at the same time to get a result.
Control+shift+F1 = a huge @ss headache compared to the possible alternative of
F1 through F9 = all top module positions \ 1 through 9 = all middle module positions >=an easy to use hotkey setup when not in chat Q through O = all lower module positions /
What we really need is the basic hotkey setup posted above for all module positions on a ship and then the ability to customize the rest of the keys for things such as drone launch, attack, and redock.
This needs to be done before anything else in my opinion.

When you group guns they typically end up on one of the only useful current hotkeys on eve (F1). Currently all top module slots on eve are controlled through hotkeys F1 through F9. So almost half the work for a complete set of basic hotkeys is already there but we still need the rest for the mid and lower range of module slots.

Sure, it all would be nice, so you could map all your commands independently... ... There is no support for g15-g19 logitech keyboards either, or a support for LCD keyboards, how about that? Id like to program those g1 to g12 keys so tiopmost g-s would make commands to drones onboard, weapons grouping for midde ones and chat commands for lowermost commands.
Theres also a neat feature that is left unused at moment, and its called LCD. Now, g17 and g19 keyboards hawe em, but players with g19 gets additional support. Those LCD:s have 16bit colours... Now imagine if there would be newsfeed displayed on that keyboard, and g17 would get chat from chat channels. Live newseve channel with sounds and avatar speaking in pictures from recent local news.
It would be a new screen to show things like radar, grouping information for looked after players so you could tank more effinently, a cargohold update system so you would see when orca is almost filled to top...
But to keep on the topic, Yes, id like to also get a support for logitech keyboards as alienware is not so sold after than logitech ones. Howcome this minority keyboard is supported, but Logitech ones arent?

if you group your guns you can then move the other active modules to one of the slots controlled by the function keys

Edited by: Legion Reaver on 16/10/2010 23:51:12 I've thought of something else that would be really useful.... How nice would it be if you could enable some bookmarks on the overview... so you could see ss01 on the overview and could just click an go instead of sorting through the r-click menu.
It would help with navigation in null sec much easier since you could have your towers or whatever else on your overview.
