The thing which drops to a tremor many of those, who wants 'more real space'. Wrecks and aiming/shooting. So many nicely designed wreck models of all kind of ships we can see running some missions and sites, and during combat we receive the only bunch of screwed twisted metal scrap. Why not to change apply the proper wreck model to a proper hull type? Will bring more visuality to a game and put teasers and actual gameplay more together. Also want to see few more spots on the hull where the shooting goes. The client-server information will remain on the level 'displayHit' transferring data regarding hit/miss same as today and server cluster will not be loaded with more complex calculations. Remaining part can be provided with checkbox in graphics option on/off and all calculations shall be provided by client. 15 points on the hull with RND(1-15) variation to display ammo shooting the target object. Also want to see missile volley shoot not as 1 shining sparcle but as many of them as many launchers activated. When we activate group of turrets they all shoot not only one thick and shiny ray of laser, artillery trace or hybrid trail. ----------------------------------------------- We can kill the enemy anyway. If not - we can kill the enemy in any other way. |

The crying about lag is almost mandatory here. 
I wonder how many cries about lag are caused by poor computer setups, outdated drivers, various types of malware on their computer etc. but I am willing to bet that aside from really huge 0.0 battles it is the cause of 75% to 90% lag whinings.

Aside from the prettier looking wreck, it should not cause any additional lag. The bullet trails, missile effects, there already there. Simply moving these effects around a bit could make it look a whole lot nicer.
As for those points on the hull for bullet hits you mentioned, could some of these point be located outside the hull? For drawing missed/scraping shots.
And when shooting a group of guns, maybe add a tiny random delay to each gun, so the guns fire in a more realistic looking volley.
Could missiles hit on these points as well, instead of the center of the ship?
