I have noticed just recently at an increasing rise of the number of 0.0 stations being constructed. As you know right now there is a limit to a single station for every system. There will eventually come a time when there needs to be an allowance of two or more station for every system. When do you think this will be? Or are there other options that could be used instead maximum number of stations per system? Please re-size your signature to the maximum file size of 24000 bytes. They can always add self-destructive stations, as long as you own them for a random amount of time, let's say, 6 months. I'm surprised it has never been implemented yet. --------------------------

I have been thinking, if they did allow multiple stations per system there would have to be a a low cap right? Or would some alliances just load a system with many stations. looks like you have not.

Why is this a bold italics issue for you when you have never owned, conquered, or built a station before?

Maybe not immediately, once WIS is out so you can send a security detail to their docking bay ?

Forcing them to dock and impound their spaceship? Systemwide?

Or have some kind of upkeep on a station so ppl can't afford infinit stations..

Edited by: StonerPhReaK on 11/10/2010 14:43:45 It takes a gaggle of time and resources to build a station.More so for others than the big dogs.So making them destructable is senseless. If stations wer destroyable there probably would only be a few held by the bigger allices,Also the amount of assets destroyed when a station went up in flames would make so many rage quite its not funny.
Also there is an upkeep charge for stations.Ask anyone who holds sov.Its not cheap either.

To build a station costs - if you buy the materials in Jita - something around 10-12 billion isk.
It is not that expensive at all.
Even a supercarrier is more expension, not to mention titans. And yet you can destroy supercarriers and titans.
No, the reason why they are not destructable is that it the question what to do with clones, items and logged out people when the station gets destroyed is a nasty can of worms and cannot be answered with satisfaction. So they are indestructable. |

The minerals are a pretty insignificant part of building the station. Please resize image to a maximum of 400 x 120, not exceeding 24000 bytes. If you would like further details please mail [email protected] ~Saint |

The only reason stations will never be destroyed is personal assets that may be lost inside.
It's ok idea for active players but what if you have to go afk for 2 weeks or few month and suddenly your alliance/corp disbands / kicked out blah blah and station is destroyed.
All that would lead to mass rage quits and we wont more people in EvE not less.

Edited by: Daisuke Aoki on 12/10/2010 13:03:41 I don't like that there seems to be more and more stations being built so quickly. I would think (maybe I'm wrong) that in most places in 0.0 having more stations will dilute and spread out the market.
Rather than having pretty much anything you could want stocked in one "market hub" station, supply ends up being spread out over many adjacent stations.
And yeah, destructible stations is a bad idea. I think the current mechanic of just having them change hands is how it should be. Multiple stations per system might be a bad idea because of the increased grind it would take to take over a system;
This is a little insane.

Edited by: Stygian Knight on 12/10/2010 13:10:15 Edited by: Stygian Knight on 12/10/2010 13:09:04 Maybe they should add another type of station - destructible
that station should have some more features than regular one but in return it will be destructible. And everyone will know in advance that they are exposed to the risk of loosing assets.
edit: maybe allow SC to dock in them - that would be interesting.
edit 2: or add another upgrade to existing stations which when installed will make station destructible but supers can dock.

Why is this bad?
Means you might have to stop station-spinning to get the item you just purchased, but opens up more trade, more competition, and gets players into space.. in a spaceship-flying game. SRS BIZNUSS!

After they relased the Dominion witch allowed you to uppgrade systems to get spawning belts and everything, all minerals have been easier to get as well. So i think ccp knew that stations also would flourish since people have acces to more minerals. With more players inn the game as well, it really is easier to acomplish a goal like a station for corporations and alliances. It was really just a matter of time before it happend. My personal opinion is that it is getting quite funny to see 5 - 10 stations a week beeing built by different alliances inn different regions. But inn the end it will stop since alliance and corps dont wanna upkeep to many of them either, since it costs to mutch. It's the members who make the corp, and not the other way around... |

Personally I think that the rate of stations being built will slow down as time goes on. I know alot of people bought all the station componenets they could get their hands on before Tyrannis went live and the all the folks who hit pay dirt on ccp's PI reprocing **** up; once those are all depleted we are going to see less and less built unless people start doign PI to the max. Its something like 25.4m units of water alone needed for an amarr station under the new system.
As far as improving station mechanics, I would like to see the other racial station blueprints added to the game, they already exist in the DB so why not, I for one would like an Amarr office or Gallente factory.
While I think destructable stations would be interesting and add a nice bit of flavor, there would be serious problems going down that route. So maybe something similar to Incapacitating a POS. I guess taking out the services is similar, but I was thinking something more dramatic, like its no longer possible to dock with the station or access assets/corp hangers from within.
Multiple stations per system is a very interesting topic, and one that if properly done could be very cool. For example gearing it in such a fashion that it is more beneficial to have multiple stations in one system as opposed to a single station in every adjacent system through sov costs. However they would have to come up with a way of challanging the sov of the system in a better way then is current. Grinding through 1 station is a PITA as it is, imagine grinding through 4 in one system. Maybe divide the timers by however many stations there is, so that it would take the same ammount of time overall. Please resize image to a maximum of 400 x 120, not exceeding 24000 bytes. to be honest, the current spike in stations is mainly due to the **** up that was the rollout of PI and the reprocessing bug, which if market numbers are to be trusted, produced enough material to build like 1000 stations and drove the price point down to about 1/3 the normal cost.
Its not a trend change that will have longer term effects since the material is also used with towers and other pos and sov structures.
Beyond that, there are thousands of systems in non-npc 0.0 that don't have stations yet-- it will be some time before thats an issue.
