Originally by: CCP Navigator A fourth optional patch for Tyrannis 1.1 will be deployed during downtime on Wednesday, October 13 which will fix several issues reported to us following the release of Tyrannis 1.1. While the patch is optional, we would encourage everyone to apply the update to ensure your gameplay is improved. A full list of updated patch notes can be found here.
The reason for deploying an optional patch is that these updates contain UI core fixes which are client-only changes in python. This process is much quicker to prepare, test and execute and allows us to prepare a patch much faster than usual. The EVE Online client remains usable whether an optional patch is applied or not.
Following downtime you will see a pop up box once the client is launched informing you that a patch is available and if you want to install. If you click 'Yes' then the patch will be applied and then you can log into Tranquility. If you choose 'No' you will log in to Tranquility directly but none of the fixes will be applied. If you clicked 'No' in error you can still apply the patch by going to the ESC menu, General Settings and apply the patch from the 'Install' button there.
Hey navigator,
Can you tell us if my suspicions are true?
These new bugs all come from refactoring the UI-code. Are you refactoring because serious work will be done on the UI in the future?
If that is the case, I think we should all stop whining and be glad CCP is working on the UI. A few small bugs that are solved with quick patches are not that bad if we know it is for the greater good.
Oh, and can you tell us about the future UI-changes?

This is why I think they made some major changes to the UI-code. More than we think.
I also think this is a good thing because it means they are putting work in the UI.
Yes the bugs are annoying, but if the endresult will be an improvement I'm willing to bite the bullet.

I don't.
CCP are in a hole that they dug for themselves with no prompting from anyone else. I don't recall a huge roar from the crowd demanding a new UI.
Having dug that hole, they then didn't follow rule#1, which is to stop digging!
The sensible thing would have been to recall the patch and rollback to the existing largely unbroken UI and then fix this new UI quietly in the background without any player pressure.
Instead, CCP continue to dig themselves deeper while the player base looks on disappointedly.
WHAT? Ever since I'm playing the game people are complaining about the UI! No I don't like the bugs either. But it is a good thing they are working on it.
