Disclaimer I dont want to post this on my main because its asking about 0.0 and corps strategy and i dont want get my corp targeted. i dont expect anyone else to either
Im a mining co ordinator in a high sec corp and i am going with my corp into 0.0 space, in an alliance and i was wondering, how do other corps who mostly mine in 0.0 organise themselves? this will be my first time in 0.0, im not asking about pvp, though that is an obvious part of the experience, im just asking what do you do?, do you organise ops or just set a flat rate of tax on ore? what role does a mining corp play in an alliance?

My experience has been that most 0.0 alliances with a decent amount of speace and at a minimum of "meat-shield" status pretty much use their moon income to fund mineral purchases for production and then ice mine until their eyes bleed to fuel said moon miners.
That being said, if your alliance owns a station a tax can be set to draw a portion of member production. Mining the rocks in a system is always an option, especially if the true sec is nice and low (-.5 or lower is fine quality). Having a system upgraded nicely will yield sizeable gravimetric anomolies that make it harder for your to be jumped by bad guys. Great idea to have ops in anoms and clean them completely out.
The biggest thing you can do for your members is a thorough training in how to behave while mining in 0.0. LOCAL WINDOW NEEDS TO BE OPEN AT ALL TIMES, ships need to be passively aligned to station/POS, haulers hang out in POS shields until cans are ready for pick up, common sense stuff once you live there for a while, but stuff you never have to think of in hi-sec.

I've run some massive mining fleets of 75+ people. I can tell you that having fleet guards is a terrible strategy. Intel is the best defense, you must have eyes posted in adjacent systems, the more eyes posted the better.
We always ran with the 0% tax, single perfect fleet booster, everyone was responsible for handling their own hauling (small groups within the fleet would coordinate together). Donations would often be made to the booster, but weren't required. Recruit ratters into the fleet as well, just incase anything goes down they can warp to you instantly.

Ops are great, they offer your industry guys an opportunity for team work and to get to know each other (Vent/TS/Mumble)
Bubble both sides of the gates with Large T2's.
Someone with alt's in adjoining systems cloaked 100KM off those gates is also recommended.
As said above, always always be aligned to the POS. Orca/Haulers always parked at the POS.
Cynoblock your system
If your system for some reason get's blobbed, have most folks log out or fleet up and kick some tail. Depends on numbers really.

Edited by: heheheh on 13/10/2010 15:35:58 Intel is key, staying aligned is advised and if the system has sov, which im guessing it doesnt a cyno blocker is handy.
