Edited by: realdognose on 14/10/2010 14:41:29 Hello,
as you all know, there are just a few days left, till the release of "Windows Phone 7 series". Well, my first thought was: I need a Character Monitor... So i decided to create one:
EVEolution is the world's first Character Monitoring Tool for Windows Phone 7 series.
Due to the fact, that Windows Phone hasn't been released right now, EVEolution isn't released, too . (Need to debug it on the device, first).
Well, if you are interested, have a look at my website http://eveolution.de There you find some more information and some screenshots of the current work progress.
Why i'm posting now? Because i need "your" input:
The market and industrial hub are still under Construction. I'm not a trader or Prodder myself, so i don't know, "what" information is really really necessary. So, if YOU know something about this - mage some suggestions (like: market order needs Itemname, price, duration, industry job needs timeremaining, quantity, type, location, etc...)
Before EVEolution will be released, i'll debug it on my device. Also i'm waiting for Feedback from CCP if i'm allowed to use the background-image and the icons.
http://eveolution.de
regards, realdognose
Impressions:
Edit: planed features are:
- EVEMail Reader - Synchronisation of EVE Calendar with device calendar (one way, of course) - Killboard-stats-fetcher from a EDK3-Killboard with activated Feed-Function.

Another reason to get a WinMo7 phone..
If you have any ideas on how to get the information from killboards (or any wishes like special APIs) feel free to come to EVSCO. We can surely help you out in that regard :)

Great initiative! I've been thinking about starting a topic some months earlier asking for this, but figured that some developer starts with a skill tracker for WinPho7 eventually! :D
My Samsung Omnia 7 will arrive very soon and from that moment, I will be able to start giving feedback! So far, the ideas from the screenshots on the website (or are they all actual screens?) look perfect! Neat character selection, news and such.
I would eventually love to see full API interaction for: character, wallet, assets, industry and VERY IMPORTANT for me: POS (API supports everything from fuel-times to attacks and system-info from where I've put it (like # jumps and NPC's killed)). Maybe a good experience would be to go from the EVEolution(main)-tile on the homescreen to several sub-tiles where you can select what "api-chunk" of information you would like to see?
Anyways, I'm already a fan, keep up the good work and look forward to both my donation and feedback for this nice and much needed WinPho7 app!

It has a very nice UI, the best so far from any Eve tool in my own opinion. I will be tracking development of this app. Keep up the good work!

Big Thumbs-up from me,
Was deciding between a HTc Desire HD (with Aura for character monitoring) as a free upgrade and the HTC HD7 - which I would have to pay for on pay as you go - thanks O2 for getting almost every phone as an exclusive :(
Saw your app when goggling and made my mind up on the HD7 - can't wait to see it - any date for first release yet? I would help but can't program to save my life:(
Is it still 25 million for unlock full version or now 150 million isk?
Regards

Edited by: realdognose on 23/11/2010 00:47:01 Edited by: realdognose on 23/11/2010 00:46:19 Good news: The Marketplace-Account is activated now.
The beta-Version is still unter "testing".
With the activation of my account, i was able to "activate" my phone as a "developer phone", and therefore could test the app on my phone the first time now.
For now everything looks good.
Just the market/transactions are not working as i expected it. So i will remove this tabs in the first beta.
There's just one big "doh!" - Windows Phone has (in the first release) NO Copy/Paste function - and therefore adding more than one account can be VERY annoying
I'm currently working out a solution for this.
Tomorrow i will capture a movie for further information.

Well, the App has now been unter "testing" for more than a week - and finally failed
It doesn't meet Microsoft's Requirement right now, because "no body" can use the App without an EVE-Online Account... (oh - really?)
I'm in touch with the support to solve this problem, hopefully ... i keep you informed about the progress.
While i'm waiting, i'll continue developing some nice features

I don't suppose you'd be willing to share the xap file would you? I'll be able to sideload apps onto my phone in the next day or two and can help you test if you like. Mail me in game if you're up for it and we can work out the details.

Unfortunately you won't be able to run WP7 apps on any previous version of WinMo.

DeAngelica is right. The App won't work with older Versions.
Well, lets see if i can "solve" this problem with the support... If it doesn't work, there will be no other way than deploying the XAP file.
As long, as there is "no official" way to directly setup XAP files on the phone, i try to do it the "official" way...

Can't wait! Sure, you need an EVE Online account, but that should be the same as their Facebook app. It requires you to have a Facebook account to make use of it, right?! ;)

This was my argumentation, too - just with much more examples (facebook, youtube, messenger, ....) After a week without an answer, i wrote again, and again received the answer to be patient ...

This app is really looking promising! The UI seems to be near perfect as does the features. Hope you get sorted out the issue with those microsoft guys.
With an app like this, one could only hope he had a windows 7 mobile phone

Edited by: realdognose on 14/12/2010 20:23:46 Edited by: realdognose on 14/12/2010 20:23:09 Well time for an update.
I got some information, "why" eveolution failed:
If you are submitting a "game" - you aren't allowed to link to any websites / to sell any "services" out of the marketplace. They "thought", that EVEolution is a game itself. Now i explained, that it's not a game, but a supplemental experience to an existent game (eve-online). They now need to investigate this ...
Well the fact, that you need a "eve-online-account" to use the app is still remaining - but lets wait what they figure out...
------ I now added a "Skill-View" to every character. (http://dog.kraffner.de/easyshare/pictures/20101214212155.jpg)
But that's all for the moment. I'm currently leaking motivation, because i don't know, if my app will make it into the marketplace

Oh, haha! This is really something, but hey, we can't expect them to know all, right? Maybe nice to add here on a sidenote that last week I spoke to someone from MS and they say that the current applications and the way in which they proces is really going well. When I told him about this particular app, he replied that there's always an exception, but that MS really wants to stick to tight control before releasing major crap into their marketplace... which to me sounds right!
Im sure this will work out in the end, and Dognose... look at it from this way: first version is the hardest. Once the core has been added to marketplace, the updates are easier! Don't doubt for a second that it's been a waste of time! Everyone with an EVE-Online account and Windows Phone 7 will want to have this... since it's the only one out there (for now?) and it looks very good! No need for alternatives!

Oh, really neat with the squares, just like Metro UI! Are you UI developer in real life too? You've nailed it! Perfect!
Again, I like it a lot and can't wait to have it. Keep up the good work, mate! ________________________________________________ Good is only skin deep, Evil is dead down to the bone... |

mmm looks good, was building my own aswell but was held back at the 99 euro marketplace entry fee and I didn't want to ask any money for somthing like this. I love the way you dealt with it tho, charging a small ingame fee seems like the way to go.
Naturally no reason for me to spend anymore time on it now but happy to see that someone is making it anyway

Yepp, the first version seems to be the "milestone".
I absolutely agree, that it is astonishing how serious MS is with checking the submitted apps.
I debugged a lot of things, but they still found a bug in the last release (you always get a detailed answer with steps how to reproduce - great job!)
The Bug was something i "never" would expect (and therefore didn't test): If you start an character update, leave EVEolution, make a phone call and return to the app - it crashed (fixed now)
Nope, I'm not a UI-developer - but I always try to make an application fit into the environment. So i used the default phone-theme colors here (if you have the "pink" metro theme, you have pink progress bars and pink squares).
Yeah, the $99 are hard - and i don't want to take any money, too. So i "hope", that i can get enough ISK, to buy PLEX with a worth of $99. I didn't loose anything, and the community has another application ;)
Best regards, dognose

If you are a "Casual" Player, there are good news: The usage with "one" Character is possible without Charge no limitation, no adds, nothing

And since a "casual" player usually only has 1 account (everything above isn't "casual" anymore) that's a great deal.
And dude that app looks really nice, hope MS let you put that thing up soon. Thought about doing something like that myself, just to get a little into the WP7 app development thingy but now I've to think about something else ----------------------------- OMG THE SKY IS FALLING! Thx for the great feedback.
Today i received another mail. It seems like the "question about EVE" is solved. But now my "Premium-Activation" seems to become part of the problem.
Well if this is the "last" thing, that prevents the app from getting launched, i'll remove that and "hope" for donations
I actually paid the $99 - so one year of distribution is "ensured", wheter i'm allowed to use "Premium-Signup" - or not.
I'll keep you informed and hope that everything will be solved very fast.

Oh my! SSDD (Same ****, Different Day)? I don't know if I could have taken so much resistance as a developer!
I do hope you count on donations rather then making it a paid app, since I'm in the Netherlands and can't use the marketplace (paid) yet, only free! I would suggest everyone to make a donation. I mean, whats 100m for something you would otherwise pay $2 for?
Again, I am a supporter of this! Hope for the best and lets just say this will be an awesome Christmas-present, mate! ________________________________________________ Good is only skin deep, Evil is dead down to the bone... |

Hello,
I know got the final feedback on the problem with Premium-Login. I now know "what" to fix, but currently thinking about "How" to fix it :-)
Unfortunately I'm currently out of home, so i can start building in the changes in about 2 days or so.
I'll do my best, to get the app submitted in the marketplace this year. (Does'nt mean, MS will certify it this year)
Best regards, realdognose
