I've had this problem for many months now. Every once in awhile, most of my portaits will disappear from the game, leaving corp chat with a bunch of !s. It happens without me deleting anything in the cache, so it's a very odd problem.
Does this effect anyone else? And if so, have you been able to solve it?

Cache has a limit of portraits it can store before it overflows, character portraits dissapear when the cache gets full and you render new portraits. In essence the older ones are deleted as the new ones get put in the cache.
There used to be an option on the esc menu to set the default cache size, but for some reason it got removed. Best way to deal with it is just to clear your portrait cache often

yeah, but his happens even with very few in the cache. Even just a couple dozen, which I used not to have any trouble with. I don't really have that many in it. It seems to happen, no matter how many I have.

I think they age out of the cache. After X-many days/weeks whatever they just get deleted.
Personally I hate it. No need for it. Eve cache would take about 20 years to run me out of diskspace

While that may be true, Mahhhy, it's not what's happening with me, or if it is, it's really bad. I noticed this with my CEO's portrait. Every time I'd log in, I'd have to redownload it. This was on a daily basis for awhile, so I doubt it was running out of room or time. And if it did, please let me know how to change the settings, because it would take me years to max out my HD as well.

my portaits also keep disappearing lately.
They were deleted like 3 times WITHING ONE WEEK!
i didn't find any option or anything to chage this.
anyone got an idea?

Yea, whats up with that. One they I have my portraits ok, and the next the are gone.
Although never really bothered me that much, there is so much more other "features" that take priority lol

I had this issue as well some time ago. For me it disappeared after I reinstalled EVE.

And yes, I have had this issue on occasion. I had the same suspicion that a timeout was involved... but I can't confirm that through expirimentation.

Portraits are automagically deleted every few weeks so new portraits are loaded in case a pilot chose the path of cosmetic surgery.
