What sort of income per unit lp is consider average? Ive noticed ships trade at around 1Misk per 1kLP. Some implants and ammo can be traded at 2Misk per 1kLP or more at the right times. Whats your experience at making the most out of your LP?

i think its best to think of it per LP instead of lp to 1 million isk.
average is between 1-2k isk per LP, sometimes you get 2-3kisk per LP due to given opportunities (outward systems, no market saturation, or excessive demand/little supply)
i've been pretty unlucky with conversion rates, infact, i'm hogging them until i find a good opportunity

There was a long running thread about that in the mission runner forum and the message there was that:
#1 do your own research
#2 most people are too dumb/lazy to figure out how to get more than ~1500-2000isk/lp
#3 those who look into it can reliably close to double that and at times get even higher returns |

range is between 400 and 4000 isk/lp, with the average somewhere between 600 and 1000. no one will be able to tell for sure though since there is no way in tracking how many lp get turned on contracts.
oh, and yes. go do some research, this has been answered like a 100 times before.

I'm curious for the guys who're able to reliably turn 3-4k isk/lp how much time they're investing in research, logistics, and how many LP they can sell in a reasonable amount of time? Also when we talk about items bringing more than 2k/LP is it still hi-sec corps/missions or are we wandering into FW/Pirate/ORE corp areas?

it gets more difficult the higher the exchange rate. and yes, my numbers are all empire factions. 2,5k is quite easy,3k is doable, but the price will react to excessive volume... and so on
sneakedit: if you settle for 600-700.. thats the faction bs range (last time i checked, someone might wanna correct me), you can turn a lot of lp that way

Markets have their heartbeat, even EvE ones. There are some that give you a best chance once a year. Sucks or not suck, that's it, such market participants harden up or leave.
