there should be an alternate way to increase security status other then killing 100npc's just to get a .1 - .01 increase i mean seriously im stuck in a dead end system that i cant leave with a ship... and quite frankly i would much rather pay an agent or something isk to boost my sec status a set amount like say... 100k per .1 / 75k per .01 i think would be fair or something along those lines cus it sucks and pulls the fun outa even... and before anyone says take a ship into 0.0 and hunt rats there... if im npc'n in 0.0 then im in alliance controlled space and even if i did get someone to move my ship to a station there how long do u think it would be before a gank gang podded my aºº? so bottom line is 0.0 is alliance / pirate controlled. and anything above that it takes around 100 rats to make any noticable dif if not more.... and yeah i counted =) so with all this said how bout giving some love ccp =D
and my sec status is -3.7 for those of you who think hunting npc's in anything but 0.0 will touch it =) ----------------- *Decloaks and starts blasting your sig* Applesauce Biotch

That would be too easy to abuse. Let's say someone massacres an entire system of people and makes a pile of money from the loot...then instead of having to deal with the consequences of his rampage, he could just use a bit of the money he gained from his killing spree and boost his sec status, thus allowing him to go on another killing spree... ---------------------------- Stepped in shadow, left a husk, killed in moments after dusk. valid point but why not put a limit on it... say if your sec status was above -2 then you could use it or maybe some other types of limitations eg you would have to pod your way to say the amarr home worlds or caldari prime or something like that or at least make some form of way to increase sec status slightly faster =p cus npc'n gets really really really boring... and i dont wanna start over considering the amount of sp i have =) ----------------- *Decloaks and starts blasting your sig* Applesauce Biotch

Yeah I understand the need for something like this. It'd just have to be handled carefuly to avoit exploitation. Maybe there could be some kinda special non-profit work you could do for Concord to work off your debt to society yaknow. Maybe a system for each empire that could be accessed by anyone with low sec, but that was patrolled heavily by concord and could act as a sort of prison system. There could be mining or hunting that would give bigger sec boosts than anywhere else, but would only boost you up to 0.0.
In Morrowind, if you got caught commiting a crime, you could either pay a fine based on whatever you stole or who you killed, or you could do hard time and a couple of your skills would drop a few points from lack of use. That was a pretty cool system...maybe something like that could be implemented here.

Some alternate way would be nice indeed for those not into the shooting game but dedicated to research and running errands.

But surely someone into research and running errands is in a strange situation indeed if they find themselves with negative security status...

Certainly but they'll never gain a positive standing either.

what is the use of a researcher/producer/courier having like 1.2 security status if there is any use in having the status at all

How about a tempory 'reprieve' while you run a mission.
[Scenerio] 'You have announce your willingness to mend your ways and turn good. You must now prove this. Run this errand/mission (difficulty depends on your sec rating, worse = harder). You have XX:XX amount of time to complete this and if you do you will increase your rating by X.X points. You will have a tempory 0.0 status for the duration of this mission to allow you to complete it but be warned! Any break in the law will will instantly void this mission and your rating will instantly return to it original value which could leave you in an extremely dangerous situation'

Yeah that's a cool idea. Nice and simple too.

Edited by: xOm3gAx on 07/01/2005 03:04:10 yeah the crime system in morrowind was really nice and it even had its limits eg: if you killed to many ppl you in turn would be killed and it was game over something like this could be done by those below -5.0 since those are generally the ones who dont want to change... but in any case at all any alternate means to boost sec status would be great and i think its an issue that should be addressed in some way until them im stuck flying from place to place in a pod which takes longer then flying in a bs =/ (provided of course your using ab/mwd) but it still hinders me in making isk at all =/
<edit> how bout it dev's? at least a yes no or maybe =D?
and anyone elses replys or input is welcome naturally as well </edit> ----------------- *Decloaks and starts blasting your sig* Applesauce Biotch

As Xom's ceo i though i'd pipe in here too hehe. The whole reason he and i both have negative sec status is because we've killed ore thieves harrasing our corp members. So we're not ganking people in .4 belts or anything.
This whole thing i think could be really avoided if they made it so that if a anyone other than a gang member or a corp member takes from your can they are criminally flagged.
I'm not asking for concord to WTFPWNBBQFISHSTICKS!!! them, i just want to be able to defend my own without then getting nailed. I'm at -0.95 myself and its taken me about 8 months to get there since i killed my ore thief back in february just a week after they got rid of that .1 increase per day.

exactly cus as it sits right now i basicly have 3 options...
1) start over with a new char and waste over a year 2) quit eve ( not likely ) 3) blow up 10000000000000 npc pirates over the next 3 years and i might see soemthing above -2.0
Side Note - all 3 of the above options would and do suck =) ----------------- *Decloaks and starts blasting your sig* Applesauce Biotch
