Was playing Eve last night, tired as a Tibetan monkey. Log off. Go to sleep.
Wake up for work. Get to work, realise I didn't add in a skill to the queue. Worry slightly all day about missing skill training time. Work twelve hours. Get home. Log in. Skill queue finishes in 2 minutes 11 seconds. Sigh of relief.
My "imaginary subscriber" vote goes to making changes to your skill queue out of game, preferably on a mobile device.

k Suggestion: Remove the "new topic" button from everywhere apart from the list of topics section within a subforum.
That'd save those with chronic hand/eye coordination some face. |

Bah, you young whippersnappers and your modern skill queues.
You know what the queue was back in the olden times? A fracking alarm-clock set to 5AM in the morning then waiting for the skill to finish that absolutely has to be done NOW!
BTW, in before the move to proper forum.

Hah, yeah I remember that last time I played Eve. Was just mightily satisfied that no minutes or heaven forbid hours where wasted in non training. Also proper forum? Is this a pretend one?

I am going away for 6 days and can only set a meaningful skill queue for one of my characters for 5 days. I won't lose sleep over this. ~_~

I am going away for 6 days, I set a 7 day skill to train. Or a 12 day one. Or a 36 day one. I won't lose SP over this. ___________ EVE is dying! Now for real! |

dunno.. i have never cared if i lost skill time :P
before the skill queues... i would just start a new skill if it wasnt ending at a reasonable time.
lets say i had a skill that would finish 3 AM.. i would start a new skill that would take longer to finish and in the morning i would start the old one again. that would finish.. then started the half done skill again :D
i know its was not the most effective way to do it.. but i never woke up 3 am to change skills on any of my chars.
i had "buffer" skills. like command ships 5. didnt need it right away, but when i had a skill that had stupid finish time... i would put on the long skills untill i could finish the short ones :)
PS: too late here... sleepy. sorry if i dont make any sense with my post :P ---------------------------------- Fighting for something

That, plus even more. During my 1st Eve year, when only death was valid reason not to change skill, I took whole PC with me to vacation, because (longest available at time) skill was ending right in the middle of it.

lol, this ^^
When I started the game way back, I couldn't figure out why there wasn't a skill queue or something similar to begin with. It just seemed like such a basic yet extremely necessary function to add to the game...

"Back in my day, we had to walk ten miles in the snow at 5AM to change skills - and we liked it!"
To be honest, I just changed skills to something else, and trained the last of that skill when it was more suitable.

Good long skills for queue padding that people sometimes forget about:
* Anything under Learning category * Industrial 5 (transports and freighters) * Anchoring 5 (leads to Starbase Defense) * Accounting 5 (less tax) * Broker Relations 5 (lower fees) * Leadership 5 * Wing Commander 5 * Drone Interfacing 5 (20% more drone damage) * PI skills (if you like PI)

ahhh... the good old times.
Facepalm moment: When I first started to play, it took me a couple of days to figure out that skills are training even when I'm logged off.

I sometimes had an automated ESP alarm clock. Or whatever you might call it.
Usually I went with the "train short skills while online, switch to long skill before logging out" plan. Sometimes a skill would finish 3am in the morning or so and I thought 'Oh well, I'll simply miss the three hours before my alarm goes off at 6am, no biggie'.
Guess what happened?
For no discernible reason I woke at 3am, wondered why, looked at the clock and decided "Hey, if I am awake I might as well log in and change the skill."
Fate, I tells ya. Fate.

Oh no you almost missed potentially 12 hours of skill training... the horror, the horror....
seriously, what's the worst that'd happen, you'd carry on playing the game and get what you wanted maybe a day later?
I really don't get people that obsesse about the skill queue this much. When I start there wasn't a skill queue and yes there were times where a skill ended before I got home to switch out.
Should I petition ccp for all those lost sp? Or should I HTFU and just deal with it? --
Nothing is worthless, you may have gotten it for free but it still has an inherent value

no queue... no evemon... no remaps... those were the dark times...
The queue is awesome for the short skills, coz it was annoying switching skills manually every 7 minutes when there was no queue.

Let's just show them and give back eve buttnaked 2004 style for a month.Where for example the best way to mine was in an apoc since you had no mining vessels or T2 ships at all , no jita as a tradehub , no warp to 0 , no lvl4 or 0.0 plex uberiskmakers and finally but the best where my torps did DAMN damage even on frigs.

I want an emergency skill queue in which you could put a ridiculously long skill like a 28 days long or such in case an overextended downtime is scheduled 15 seconds in advance or I get in an hospital.
NAW!
