Hi all,
Our corp has just been a victim of a recruitment scam by Goonswarm Federation!
*** GOONSWARM = SCAMMERS ***
IÆm not proud of the fact we have been the victims of a recruitment scam, and to say weÆre all feeling gutted right now is an understatement! But putting pride aside, I thought others might benefit from reading this post and stay well clear of Goons.
Now for older players (or perhaps wiser ones) the idea that Goons are dirty two-faced back-stabbing snakes, with zero sense of honour this may not be big news. IÆve been playing EVE since mid-2009, and despite reading about Goons and their exploits I made the mistake of keeping an open mind and as a result our corp has had a serious kick in the nuts.
HereÆs our story û
I recently brokered a deal to rent 3 systems in Deklein from Goons for our corp. The agreed price was 5 billion ISK down payment and 1.7 billion ISK per month. The deal included flipping 2 stations over to our corp for us to manage for the supposed duration of our tenure.
How did we get involved?
The Recruitment channel - I fished for renter alliances and was put in touch with an English player whose character name is Ntrails. Ntrails is supposedly a 'recruitment manager'. This guy convo'd and evemailed me at length. He was friendly, helpful and despite being wary of being scammed, he steadily gained my trust over a period of many weeks. He told me about his private life, even sending a pictures of himself climbing a cliff one weekend at one point 
He then went on to put me in touch with Tamir Lenk - Internal Security Director for Goonswaffe. I thought this seemed like a good step forward, and made me start to feel like this was a serious deal since I was now dealing with a senior director and top decision-maker who had the ear of the CEO.
Tamir Lenk was initially very lazy in getting in touch I have to say, however he slowly became more pro-active. At one point I made it clear to Ntrails and Tamir Lenk that our corp was not comfortable moving forward unless we had built up a good relationship using voice comms. I offered the use of our corp vent server, however Ntrails would only communicate via in game mail and convo.
Up until this point evemails had been exchanged and just a few RL emails between Tamir and I:

This is also his skype address, and it was he who suggested we speak on skype. I set up a skype account and we began to chat a few times a day most days û he from his mobile and I from my PC.
Tamir Lenk is certainly from the US, and claimed to live in Chicago. We would speak when he left what he claimed was his sky-sc****r office (as the reception was poor inside on the 30th-odd floor). We chatted at length daily. He was never overly warm, but he was helpful and to the point. He sent me things like POS builds for moon mining, fittings of ships used by Goons so that we could focus our manufacturing on goods that had an immediate market etc. It really was very convincing. He talked a little about his personal life û mostly about his only son who was into his sport. He seemed a dedicated father, and I guess that further encouraged me to let my guard down. Of course this could all have been fabricated, and that makes me feel like even more of a sucker. Regardless, I donÆt see myself as someone easily led astray or deluded.

OK, so to cut a long story shorter, we contracted over ships/equipment etc for 3 ships per player in corp. Mostly T1 BC/BS or Exhumers. We also contracted plenty of corp items which included basic POSes and cheap fittings. This lot must have been worth 5 billion. So good bragging rights for goons that find ruining other gamers lives humorous. Needless to say the good were never delivered by GSOL (Goonswarm Logistics). I dealt via mail with a guy called Mr Cinders to organise this. The whole lot was presented in a spreadsheet û item by item that Tamir Lenk and I shared via gmail.
Handing over so many player and corp assets was a hard decision, but at the end of the day I felt we had to trust someone at some stage re the renting. Relations seemed good, and all the finer details were being managed.
So anyway, the big day came û yesterday! We flew out in a fleet to Taisy and met up with Ntrails who was to be our guide to Deklein. æThe promised landÆ as he referred to it en route on our vent server (for the first time). We made him FC, and he scouted ahead. He led us to a POS where a couple of goon battleships fitted with smartbombs were sitting. We then proceeded to pop pretty quickly in our fast frigs / cov ops. Only a few escaped, and most of us appeared in med clones in various hisec stations having been podded.
Ntrails then dcÆd from vent and eve, and although he hasnÆt blocked convos he hasnÆt written a letter. IÆve not gone mad with hate mails, but I have promised revenge.
So beware folks! You may think our corp has been incredibly nanve, and that may be so to a degree. One could argue that no one should ever be trusted, but my message here is simple:
*** NEVER TRUST A GOON! ***
Even their own kind must hate who they are. The only reason I can fathom that anyone would ally themselves with them is it out of fear.
I have promised Tamir Lenk that we will have our revenge, and that unlike him I am a man of my word.
Watch your back Goons from inside and outside your organisation. We will be watching you, and we will make you pay!

-Trusted the goons.
-Trusted the goons regarding recruitment (must have seen 3 topics recently on this and I don't come here often).
-Got groomed by two characters who are likely the same player.
-Gave away your assets to be moved, without requiring collateral.
-Followed a goon into goon space and to a goon pos.

I dont know if its just me or every day you read the first page of topics on C&P you see:

I guess people just doesnt read the forum, and im ammazed an alliance leader doesnt try and keep track on whats going on.
That said, we had something simular happen to us, but it was a cheap lesson, and we could only laugh about it after and have a good read on EVE-pirate. Lesson learned.
What ammazes me are how fare and how much effort, time and work they have to put into a scam of 5b.

A couple of mails a week, some time on vent and looking up some easy to get tips and info ... I think many people would do that for 5 billion, a load of kill mails and a tanker load of tears and emotion induced by such a grand backstabbing event.
Amount and story still needs confirming and possibly adding to by Goon representatives though. Someone get them over from CAOD plx :)

This is an outrage. I will not stand for such libelous charges.
First of all, ISK Lord, you ignore the fact that you transferred nothing to me. I accepted no payment and no contracts. To lay this at my feet is scandalous and unfair.
The decision to scuttle our transaction was made without my knowledge or input. Goonswarm Federation has launched a full investigation, and while I cannot comment on the details, it appears that Ntrails colluded to ambush your expedition force. Mr. Cinders has gone incommunicado, but we are demanding he account for the assets you entrusted to GSOL for transport to the rental space. Of course, we will refer to the spreadsheet that you prepared to conduct a full audit and as a reference for reparations.
Should you want to discuss the investigation and other solutions to this tragic affair, please do so directly. Your hateful and misguided public attacks on me are not productive. Moreover, frivolously posting personal details ITT is a violation of the TOS and soliciting attacks (e.g., spam) on me is wrong.
This whole affair sickens me, and I had hoped to salvage our transaction with a swift investigation and corrective action. That you chose to launch such a vicious and personal attack makes me wonder if salvaging this deal is worthwhile. Perhaps we dodged a catastrophe here. I shudder to think what kind of partner you and your corp could be, if this is your approach to conflict.

As we discussed, I have contracted everything to you in Jita:
1) Corp Effects - Loose Items in 3 station containers (all in 1 contract for filling up the corners)
2) 18 x GFCs (corp members' itemized effects in 4 contracts)
Ntrails and I will deal with the members on move day. For now, keep "updating" me on the move. Once we are done with the members, the three of us can work out selling and splitting the goods in Jita. Ntrails does not think Tamir will go for this, so keep this amongst the three of us. Three-way split is better than four, and I am tired of his crap anyway.

I have all the original in game mails, plus mails sent between Tamair Lenk and myself. I also have copies of the majority of the convos I have with Ntrails and his alt. I also have proof that I contracted all goods to you Mr Cinders in Jita and no one else! I also have skpye convo's with Tamir Link saved.
You are a snake Mr Cinders, just like Ntrails.
As for Tamir Lenk 'Diretor at Goonswaffe - I will be on skype today. The skype you asked me to set up, and have failed to respond to me on since why corp members were all blown to bits by Goons. Oh and yes we have the killmails too, and proof of the transfer of ISK to Goonswaffe and our assets to Mr Cinders of GSOL, bit on your request!
Tamir Lenk, if you wish to be pro-active in making an apology in person and returning our assets or ISK equivalent I would welcome that. However anyone who know Goons it seems will know that this is a false hope, and you are just playing innocent. It has been pointed out to me that you and goons have broken CCP rules with this scam however. If I do not receive compensation for our losses soon, I wont be hesitate to raise a peitition. I have proof of the involvement of youself, Ntrails, his alt, and Mr Cinders. This therefore blatantly links Goonswaffe Senior Management(Executors of Goons) and Merch Industrial, both acting on behalf of Goonswarm Federation!
You have until DT tomorrow.

TCUs and stuff were always going to be your cut, right? Bunch of peons whining for nullsec isk, you've been skimming more than enough off mission-running taxes to live comfortably...
Why deal with nullsec drama when you can just get goons to smack them back into line and even have a scapegoat when they cry "Why did this happen?".
Makes perfect sense.

Step 1. Convince your corp to gather all their stuff for "the big move"
Step 2. Contract all that stuff to your buddy to blame the heist on "scammer Goons."
Step 3. Run to forums screaming "Guys, guys, Goons scammed us all for TEN BILLION FIVE BILLION. BEWARE OF GOON SCAMMERS."
I don't know who was dumber - you for trusting Goons to split your scam, or your members for loading up their stuff and giving it to a guy named ISK LORD as part of a deal with Goons. THE-GOLDEN-PATH must be like a special lane on the highway for short buses.
The spreadsheet is pretty hilarious too. Either you created a line item list of **** you were stealing, or you did it to detail all the crap someone else was stealing. I know Goons like to scam people, but I never realized they could get someone to do a detailed accounting of the theft. Goons usually just grab it all and wander off like drooling morons to spend all their isk on Rifters.
Was that what took up all that cargo space? 5 billion in Rifters? That would fit the Goonie profile.
Please tell us more about this tragic affair. Put up that spreadsheet.

I am mostly just curious, but it seems like these things happen all the time and I can't imagine what the violation would be -- other than the violation of your dignity.
