This is mainly a venting session for me. Engage venting.
This contest is clearly FUBAR (SNAFU, etc., take your pick) in other words; totally f**ked. I love you CCP but leaving art critics to judge something like this? Come on, you should have gotten EVE players to judge it. Not that my entries were the best (though I would like to see a missile platform destroyer, that's beside the point). There were several excellent *air guitar riff* entrees that look like they fit into the EVE universe. Sure (http://blueroguevyse.deviantart.com/art/EVE-Online-The-Ascendancy-182561598?q=&qo=) looks cool, but it sure doesn't fit into EVE, maybe Mass Effect or Homeworld or something, but not EVE. And of the semi-finalists there's only 3 or 4 that I'd even expect to win.
Since I like to ***** about things I'll start from the top left and work my way down:
Atlas...I don't even know where to begin.
Arq, a luxury racing yacht. Well we know what happened last time with things like that.
Naru-Kami, I'd name my CNR that or something...but this ship...I feel like it's from an anime or something.
Ascendancy, take your cool design and gb2 Homeworld.
Nergal, I dunno, it might work.
BES, that's utterly ridiculous, there'd have to be a whole new game mechanic for this.
Tornado, of the top 3 picks, this is one of them, it looks and feel right for EVE.
Cyruk Velam, again an interesting/cool design, a little Amarr...but not really EVE like.
Tsunami, another one of my top 3 picks...but I guess it's good to know the Minmatar will probably take the win this round.
Masonis, what? I think I'm seeing bits of other ships in there.
Omega...ha ha...very funny, the name is Omega...and the ship looks like the symbol...
Gatekeeper, kinda cool, but it looks like a rehashed design...can't quite put my finer on.
OKHOS, *hedonism-bot impersonation* An ORE battleship...how ridiculously absurd. Interesting, but a little WTF for my tastes.
Vision, now that's cool, this is one of my top 3 picks. But since it's Jove it won't make it to the public...
And lastly, the Minmatar advert transport, while I'd like to see this in-game, it's rather dynamic and for some reason reminds me of the space hauler truck things from Cowboy Bebop.
But what do y'all think? Am I full of it?
