I make 11 bucks an hour IRL. Convert that to plexes, and then name one single profession that can match that in ISK/Hr.
I play this game to pewpew, not to grind. Who's the sucker? The guy who has a job, a life, and free time on his hands, or the guy who spends all day playing the ****ty parts of an internet spaceship game? - NEVER PVP SOBER. |

I get 400mil from one night of running C5 sites with my corp. I find both pvp and pve enjoyable, and my game time is equally distributed between the two. This is a game, not a job. It's fun making money in a game.
That being said, I also enjoy my real life job. I get to play with fancy lasers and teach people physics. I don't view any time spent making money or virtual money as time lost. I make enough money in both real life and virtual life that I would be able to fund my subscription with currency from either.
So really what it comes down to is whether or not I would want my surplus wealth to be virtual or real. Real money earns interest, is a more stable form of currency, and can be spent on things that I find more valuable.
TL;DR: If you view your game experience as a chore, you should play something else. If you view your real life job as a chore, you should find a new job. Making money for the sake of money is a good way to waste your life. Don't do things you don't like to do.

I am in a similar situation to Celeritas 5k. My day job pays me 75$ per hour. My side job pays me minimum 50$/h up to 200$/h(depending on contract) whenever I decide to work. I love EvE and try to play as "honestly" as I can, but the fact remains that from both ISK/H and USD/h standpoints it just makes more sense to GTC when there is something I cannot afford.
As for if I am happy paying your subscription, sure! I get the flexibility to play EvE how I want and I am responsible for helping another player who might not have funds stay in the game. |

Haha, this.
Don't even want to think about how long it takes to grind 700 mil
You must be one of those salvage ninjas if you think that 700mil is a lot of money.
Its not and it doesn't take long to make at all. Maybe 3 lazy days, chatting in one the social channels the whole time and just missioning to have something to do wile I babble away my day.

You'd be amazed at what some people will spend (in irl cash) for pixels...
I ran across one newbie in NPC corp with one of my alts who had a fully faction fitted caracal and drake (mostly caldari navy) that he was linking about in chat. He had purchased all of his isk with GTCs. So if one newb can do that, i'd imagine that a couple hundred of them might easily supply thousands of PLEX'd accounts per month.

It's like this because irl money is easier to make then isk for some/many. Thus why bother with ratting/missionning for 6h to buy that nice faction module when you can just work 6h irl and buy 500 of them, so to speak. ------

Im one of them paying for your grind time,
For me its easy, math , i earn more a hour doing my rl job then i "earn" running missions or doing -whatever- in eve.
As my job allows me to make as much hours as i want / can , i prefer to work a extra hour and buy 2 or 3 gamecards to pay for the stuff in eve, then grinding endless missions.
I still do those, but more for the lulz ( wot? ) and relaxing after a hard day of work.
So in the end, im quite happy to pay a other guy to do that grind for me ( both win ) , so thanks, and please , don't stop doing it
To keep the game "fun" in my eyes, i have to mission for ship losses ect ( hulls and mods ) , i only buy isk for -> gametime and items like BPO's Imho, in eve a ship-loss has to hurt, and as i don't enjoy a long mission grind, i punish myself for ship losses with having to do mission for it.
Whatever rocks your boat i guess

Never sold or bought gtc's.Allwats using the CC for my 2 account payments allthough i financially could pay with isk easily.

some people must be buying serious amounts of isk
What do you state that on ? , im a 2003 player and the last couple of years i havent paid a dime to play eve on my 4 accounts because i simply make more than enough cash in 0.0 and otherwise to support my 4 accounts.
Any player thats been in the game for a year or less can make 500m a day missioning without any trouble or more if you have access to 0.0 and you get escalations and so forth.
so lets say a gtc cost 650m , and lets just say you make 2b a week, thats 8b a month , divide that by 650 , so thats like 13 gtc's you can buy, with my 4 accounts thats 3 gtc's for each, which is 6 months gametime, so for 2 months i pay for an entire year for all 4 accounts, and literally thats what ive done.
but people do buy the gtcs in order to sell them for ISK and get some money legally that way, and CCP earns on that if not by normal subscriptions since all GTCS go by them anyhow in the end.

Really? Fair play, different strokes for different folks, of course, but I feel obliged to point out that you're saving a maximum of 62c an hour, on your figures. I think they make more than that in illegal sweatshop. Just saying.
Edit for more reality.

10hrs? Of course 10 hours grinding for ú15 game time is ú1.50 an hour which is pretty terrible so unless you actually enjoy grinding you are deluding yourself if you think this is a good thing. You could just do the extra 1-3 hours overtime at work and have 7-9 hours to actually enjoy eve, or maybe even not play eve at all. All the people who use isk from trading/building/moon mining/scamming probably only take 1 hour so its a pretty good deal for them.

Big thanks to all the poor people and the people who play the game as a job of work earning ISK so they can have access to the game in the first place and the guys from the drone regions, thanks to you guys I get to log on pew pew and log off and never have to worry about mission running or any other boring grinding crap and never having to worry about my ISK source being cut off.

making 25 euro IRL = 2 hours work on a terrible job making 370 million isk = more than 2 hours work
i usually pay my ships via plex
i also bought gold in the other game for the same reason

I pay to play, and have thought about buying plex a few times to get extra isk, mainly because like others have said, I can make more money/hr IRL than I can make the equivalent isk/hr in the game. If I used isk to fund gametime, that would turn the game into a 2nd job and make it less fun.
That said, I haven't actually bought a plex to sell for isk. I haven't really had any issue making enough isk for the things I want in the game, and when I am on the verge of doing it, I always think about making an extra payment to a credit card or taking my GF out to a nice dinner or something with the money instead lol. |

I am one of the ones that is paying for your play time.
I work long hours and lots of them at a time. usually 84 hours a week then if I work overtime in 10 days I will do about 120 hours.
I make egnough money and my time is money. 1 hour of work for me is 2 plex's. Its no problem for me to sit here at work typing on the forums to pay for my eve time.
I would rather support my pew pew with a bit of RL cash here and there then waste my time grinding out killing ratts running plex's or doing missions.
Riggs I would rather die on my feet than live on my knees |

Thank various gods and more than a few demons that the PvP in EVE is so exciting and unparalleled compared to any other game.

It was such a grind getting several years worth of PLEX for my two accounts last expansion. I had to click my mouse button dozens of times. You hear, DOZENS OF TIMES!
Grinding is done by fools. PvE in 0.0 can be nice time spent, as long as you don't do it as a grind.
