Originally by: Shadowthrone You're declaring the collapse of Curse as some sort of Stain victory. In reality its a Lose-Lose situation. Control of territory in eve is meaningless(unless u want to mine/isk make in peace). The reality is that you have lost your best enemy. The enemy that kept you all united and playing the game.
How many players joined either the Stain or the Curse Alliance just on the basis of being able to fight huge fleet battles?
As much i have disliked the CA in the past, i think its overall sad that the largest and most ebil Alliance has collapsed in on itself.
It will be interesting though to see what happens to the allied forces in the south now that there is no-one to shoot at.
As much as this pains me to say, I fully agree with a Celest Apoc member
If this really is the end of CA, life could get boring quick. Hopefully it won't be the end of our war...

I'm personally very surprised to see the number of people who say that the South is peaceful and feels empty now!
It's not like there aren't plenty of corporations still in Curse space that didn't go to Syndicate.
The Russian contigent for one with RUS, RUSH, RUS1UKR, UA Industries and all those guys. Not to mention several others.
Just because CA seems to have been torn into several bits it doesn't pacify the South, far from it. It might lead to more battles as the different factions from CA start to decide who gets Wicked Creek, Detorid, Cache etc etc.
Add to that the Allied Forces moving into that and I don't see a very peaceful future in the South.

Well.. may I be the first to say uh-oh.
We are ntering 2005 with no major conflict. The Great Northern war is over. Now the collossal southern war may end soon or dramatically de-scale itself. WHAT ARE WE TO DO?? ALL GO MINE VELD??
This could be the dark ages of conflict, no-one to fight etc etc.
We neeeed to find a new war fast ----------------------------------------- Everlasting Vendetta PVP Commander, yarr

It's actually not "almost since the very start of the game".
Granted it's been on for a long while but CA was/is still not one of the oldest alliances, SA having been formed months ahead, followed by FA and others.
Just a slight technical note

Reading the first few lines and no replies this topic is propaganda of SE trying to jump on the falling apart of the CA, to make it look like it was of SE's making, which it wasn't, it's internal. -----------------

Oh well this sucks hardcore.
Kind of felt like all the previous wars were just leading up to a massive BoB & Co vs CA, so damn cheated :/
On the other hand, a bit of uncertainty in the future is nice FA is now looking quite plump and juicy, and all the other no-name alliances that normally get ignored might have some trouble :)

Edited by: Radeck on 06/01/2005 17:26:59 history repeats itself...this is the classic way empires collapse: internally: the enemy within, rather than due to enemies...eg. Macedonians (after alexander died), Romans etc etc...hopefully a phoenix will rise from the ashes...
as others ahve stated war is a good uniter...SE or XF folks might have the time/energy/boredom to turn on each other and reapeat the same scenario again...hopefully not...
not to mention how peace is bad for the economy...for a care bare miner like me this will reduce demand and therefor prices for ores/minerals...not good... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

IÆm sorry but I have to post this.
(Sarah is watching herself interviewed on video while smoking a cigarette) Sarah Connor: It's like a giant strobe light, burning right through my eyes, but somehow I can still see. Look, you know the dream's the same every night, why do I have to...(the doctor encourages her to continue) The children look like burnt paper, black, not moving. And then, the blast wave hits them and they fly apart like leaves...It's not a dream, you moron, it's real. I know the date it happens...on August 29th, 1997, (exploding with panicked hysterical rage) it's gonna feel pretty ******* REAL to you, too! Anybody not wearing two million sunblock is gonna have a real bad day, get it?!...You think you're safe and alive. You're already dead. Everybody, him, you, you're dead already. This whole place. Everything you see is gone. You're the one livin' in a *****NG dream, Silverman! Because I know it happens. IT HAPPENS! (the video is paused on her angry hysterics)
Sarah: I feel much better now. Clearer.

This is breathtaking. The oldest War in Eve has ended.
It wasn't a victory on the battlefield, it was the exhaustion of resource and personal. The PvP-backbone of Curse left over the last weeks, leaving an industrial core which wasn't expected to last long. But in the end it were the russians who stood up one last time at the XETIC-border and surprised us by their resiliance - taking your chance without central leadership it where the russians which fought the last great battle under the banner of curse and not those which left you alone in the end.
This is a great time for the southern colonies and for the Amarrian borderzones. Its a time to bring law and order to these territories. Weed out the pirate scum plaguing the devout subjects of his godly emporer at the Amarr-Providence-Border. Develop the allied regions which where formerly plagued by military operations. Pacify and regulate the new territories. Make a peace which makes everyone prosper, even those who where opposing us for so long and with such fierce.
God bless you all.

Gutted,
GG
Respect to all ex-CA who fought hard: especially OC, Supremacy, RUSH.
A big respect to the CA team that ganked my sniperggedon. You brought me back in touch with mortality my shrinks say I was beginning to get an immortality complex.
Disrespect to all those who couldn't get thru the war without resorting to smack talk and scams.
I didn't want victory ( especially not like this ) just an eternity of war. Its like the end of Eve War 1 : since virtually everyone was affected by this war at some time.
Now I will go back to building more POS and mining arkanor and Bistot like the sorry ass carebear I used to be before Xetic joined the war.
By the next war I will be even richer. Until then I will try to learn to enjoy the peace.

Personaly, I believe that as GW is Thukker tribes sovereign space, the Matari Republic should seize control of The Great Wildlands as its own. Any help the Republic could give to the Thukkers would be good.

Quote: An eye for eye only ends up making the whole world blind.
Quote: After the initial rage of war cleared from the minds of the warriors from both sides, mutual respect began to grow. This fostered by those fleet commanders who displayed dignity in victory and valor in defeat. In this full scale war on every front for both sides the advantage swung. Invasion met by counter invasion, supply lines cut, logistics disrupted both sides trying to push the other to breaking point. But you would find that at the end of great battles, surrounded by the devastation of war, there would always be a courteous and polite morale between us. On numerous occasions fleet commanders have allowed the defeated sideÆs pilots to return home pod intact.
Kudos and respect to the Stain Empire for this level of good natured maturity. Very impressive. If this truly is the end to EVEs longest running interstellar conflict, then closure with this kind of class should be commended regardless of the cause.
Oberon Incorporated bows in respect to both the CA and SE for what their conflict has brought to us all for so long.
