Edited by: Chade Malloy on 07/01/2005 00:55:18 I just heard some nasty rumors and got some of them later confirmed by a few of my corp members. Apparently your skillpoints are no longer totally safe if you get podded or make a clone jump, even if your clone keeps more skillpoints than you have. A corpmate of mine lost about 250k SP over three clones, (A+++, elite ones later for checking) and according to that he lost a few LV 5 Skills too, which hurts a LOT.
There is a rumor about losing 1% of your total SPs if you die, even with the right clone, i just hope thats not intended by CCP (cause there was NO notification whatsoever about that, at least i havent seen any) and it could be "just" a nasty bug.
Skillpoints are crucial to us (i would say even holy), especially to everyone who is using the more high end kind of equipment like heavy assault ships or tech two items and weapons.
Anyone else experienced something like this?

Yeah man, all time man, all the time........... I mean, no, umm.... never.... Vin Diesel claims he has never hailed a taxi. He just runs up to them at stop lights, opens the door, shoves the current passenger over, and tells the cab driver what his new destination is. |

Edited by: Danton Marcellus on 07/01/2005 01:51:18 Therefor it would be nice to designate certain areas of your brain, read skills, to be less cared for in the event of a cloning. Say 5 skills you toggle for possible memory loss, out of which you lose the skillpoints randomly amongst the 5 till one run out and in which case you select a new one to take the erased skills place.
It would solve the constant calling for relocation of skillpoints as well as let some of the diehard PvP people sleep at night.

When you say confirmed by your memebers were the rumours confirmed or the actual occurance happening to your members confirmed.
I was worried about this one time afew months back. Turned out i'd just gone over my clone in one occasion before clonejumping, the second i forgot to buy a new clone after logging off after clonejumping. Also, rememeber your skilpoint total isn't always what is shown on the skillsheet, especially if you're doing a long skill training and have been logged on for ages.
If it has happened, a simple petition to the GM will be able to determine the facts.
Remember, rumours are one thing. Actual facts are another.

Trooper is correct. Just file a petitions. Clones "advertise" they protect your skillpoints. No where in the cloning factory or information does it say you still lose skillpoints.

Huh? Last time I was podded was like nine months ago and then it was like this so it's not like it's something new...

Losing sp's even when sufficiently cloned has been happening for a while but, afaik, you're meant to petition it because it's a long-standing bug.

i just clonejumped about 36 hours ago, and my clone held up perfectly fine
the only time i've ever lost sp in a clone process was thanks to a nice podding while scouting a system in 0.0. It turned out that i was very close, but still over my limit on the clone. I lost maybe 3200 sp or something, but no L5's were affected.
sux, mate. i'd petition, it seems...

Now you're just bragging... And I did a clone jump day before yesterday only forgot to set the clone station away from 0.0 and ended up back where I started.

Sounds weird, because if I recall correctly I even got this funky message like "Even though you have a sufficient clone some information was lost in the transfer to the cloning facilities. Therefore you lost xxxxxx skillpoints in [whatever skill it was].", something like that. If it was a bug it shouldn't be like that right?

Yes, previously there was a random chance of loss of sp's but, iirc, this was coded out.

Tis true there was that random chance - except it wasn't that random. It was predertermened. For a while there, any test server I went on after an update Thrak would lose SP after a clonejump. It was pretty much set in stone that next time I got podded on tranq, I was gonna lose some points - luckily it got changed before I did :D |

FFS!!! I thought this is a feature to stop clone jumping, now I dont even remember which skills dropped in lvl, too late to petition
No lvl 5 ones lost, though the partial bar under the 5 boxes of some, make me suspicious
