Edited by: Tentacle Monster on 29/10/2010 16:37:38 My new corp's assets have been plundered by a 24-day member, Luna O'Brien. She further expelled corp members and disbanded the alliance to cause as much grief as possible. To add insult to injury, she left a confession and explanation of her methods:
Attention Corp and Alliance Members,
I would like to announce that Verge Industries has fallen victim to a corp theft. All of the assets have been removed from all corp hangars in all of Verge's stations, all money in the corp wallet has been removed, and all un-delivered assets have been transferred to my alts. All *censored* ISk worth of blueprints have been moved out of w-space and are in the saftey of my alt's hangar. The entire POS (and the fuel) in the *censored* system has been torn down and moved into a station in hisec. Other than the personal assets and wealth of it's remaining members, Verge Industries no longer has any possessions. In addition, I have expelled most of the members from the corp and then disbanded the alliance. The Verge Realities alliance, is hereby closed.
You might be asking why I did this. The answer is simple and has two parts. First, of course, I did it for the LULZ.. why else would I do anything in a game. Second, this is my chosen profession. I create an alt, join a corporation, participate until such time that I am given significant access to hangars/wallets/etc, then I steal everything I can, transfer all of it to an alt, sell it off. Then, like a fart in the wind, I dissappear for ever. Within the next two days, I will drop from the corp (gotta wait for the cooldown after relinquishing roles), move the last of my assets, and delete this character. Since this character will never undock again, there is really nothing you can do to me at this point.
For the past few days, the directors and members of the corp were under the impression that I was out hunting for a new w-space home for us. In reality, I was getting a new alt into a different corp to begin working on my next theft. I was also setting things up so I could log on and, in a matter of a few hours, take possession of everything this corp owned. I would have done this a few weeks ago, but the multiple wars and issues with *censored* made me delay my plans. Now that the corp is out of the wormhole and back into K-space, stealing everything was much simpler.
You probably think I am a a thief and a jackass for doing this... I am strangely comfortable with that opinion.
A wise man once said "The things you own, end up owning you". Enjoy your freedom.
Nice doing business with you, Luna O'Brien

How does it feel to be in a corp where 24-day old members have director roles?
Or should I say, how did it feel?

In my defense, I told the CEO I was a responsible for corp theft in my previous corp. I even mailed him a lengthy detail of my "past", and then... he asked me to help run things, which is kinda like hiring a recovering alcoholic to be a beer delivery driver.
The rules in Eve are fairly simple: 1.) Do not use auto-pilot 2.) Never use auto-pilot 3.) Never trust anyone in-game that you can't punch in the face in real life 4.) Never go into W-space without probes 5.) Have at least one jump clone in case of war 6.) There is no six 7.) If it looks too good to be true, it usually is 8.) A solo drake is always a trap

According to the perp, director roles in an alliance a couple weeks ago.
If true, that's some pretty hard fail right there.

Incarna won't solve this. After Incarna's release, what are you gonna do? Walk up to a corp thief in a /dance in front of them until they give back everything they stole? CCP has already stated that in-station combat will not be a feature of Incarna.

There is a story called "The Scorpion and the Frog" which is about a scorpion asking a frog to carry him across a river. The frog is afraid of being stung, but the scorpion reassures him that if it stung, the frog would sink and the scorpion would drown as well. The frog then agrees; nevertheless, in mid-river, the scorpion stings him, dooming them both. When asked why, the scorpion explains, "I'm a scorpion; it's my nature."
What the CEO (or other players in the past) did was not because of lack of intelligence or because they are stupid. The players who are usually victims of scams and thefts are the type of people who's nature it is to care about and/or believe in other players (whether they are willing to admit it or not). They want to believe that other players, especially other members of their corp, have only the best of intentions. People like this will always be victims in a game like Eve simply because they are easy to trick. They are the sick or injured animal on the edge of the pack. They are the easy target. So predators naturally go after them. In Eve, you have three choices 1.) Only play Eve with your real life friends, 2.) Be Paranoid and suspicious of others, or 3.) Be a victim. If you can't do #1 and don't naturally do #2, you will either stop playing Eve or end up as #3 sooner or later.
Thieves and scammers don't necessarily think what we do is "right", we just simply don't care that it is "wrong". There are plenty of ways to make ISK in this game. Most of the time, stealing may not even be that great in terms of ISK per Hour compared to other careers. However, the amount joy derived from doing bad things to good people (or even bad things to bad people - I don't care) is so much greater than what I get from a successful Tech 2 invention, from finishing a L4 mission, or from selling the minerals from a day of mining in a belt... all of which I have done in the past. It's human nature to take pleasure in other people's pain. Don't tell me you've never slowed down to rubberneck at a car wreck, that you've never laughed at a video of someone getting hit in the balls, or that you've never enjoyed a story of someone getting ripped off in the game. If it wasn't human nature, the C&P forums would be very empty, Eve would be a much safer place, and I would have a hell of a lot less ISK than I do.

Not sure exactly how much it is all worth yet. The NPC value of most of the BPOs are 1,112,108,651.00 ISK (still need to figure out the NPC value of 28 BPOs) . The value of the POS, Arrays, and POS Fuels (selling direct to Buy Orders) is 540,207,062.00 ISK. There is no strontium to sell since I got asploded moving the stuff out of w-space.. oops! And so far, I've counted up 27,445,727 units of various minerals that I can insta-sell for 243,005,327.30 ISK. The corp wallet only contained a little more than 20mil at the time, which brings the total to only about 1,916,315,303.09 ISK (1.91 Billion) so far. I know it's not a lot. My last theft netted me a lot more than this one. I am sure that I could have stay and eventually got more from them, but it wouldn't have been worth the time and effort. Better to grab enough to turn a fair profit for the month, just move on, and start working on the next heist.
In addition, unrenting two of their offices, disbanding their alliance, getting a couple convo requests where their members asked for some of the spoils, and receiving a few hate mails from butt-hurt Alliance newbs provided some LOLs that just can't be converted to a monetary value. They do not have anyone in the corp that can create a new alliance (had to hire someone to create the first one), which means they are open to wardec's for the time being at a much lower fee. Hanging out in their corp chat while I was going around and disposing of the stuff I took (they can't kick me out since I had roles) and seeing the reactions of some of the people as they logged in and read their mail was pretty priceless too.

I found this mail from one of the alliance newbs rather humorous
Quote: lol From: Rooster Hunter Sent: 2010.10.30 08:06 To: Luna O'Brien,
well you sould have waited we had 12 billion in assets and you did not get any of it your not the frist to do this and it would be great if you had a idea of your own there are a 100000000 people doing this so dont think your cool and as far as us doing anything to you ok think we cant get you loloolo
First, WTB Punctuation.
Second, You'd think that for being more than a year old, Rooster, you'd know by now that there is nothing you can do to me really. I will be docked in a station until I delete the toon. You could normally try to hunt down my "main", but that is assuming I had a main still. I burned about 7 toons after my last theft, and those toons are pretty much the only ones that have any kind of connection to Luna O'Brien.
Third, I wasn't after your corporation's ISK and/or assets. You were some nobody in a different corporation than I was. Sure, I could have spent considerable time and effort to acquire ownership of the alliance instead of disbanding it, but that still wouldn't have given me access to your corp's wallet.
Fourth, your name. LOL. No more needs to be said on this subject.
Fifth, I see your corp is recruiting and I am always on the lookout for juicy targets. Now that I know your corp has a fair amount of assets, I may just apply in a month or two. If I do apply, can I use you as a reference?

The rest of the story:
BLUF: We had verge dec'd I spent 2 weeks in their hole and told them what was going on prior to the heist. They didn't want to listen. Classic.
We Dec'd verge and found their first wormhole complete with large tower etc. A couple of us camped it constantly and they got mad and moved to another hole. We killed a few of them but mostly small stuff. Thanks to locators I found their new hole the same day they moved in.
Their first worm hole director quit after we shut down their first hole. Luna was then appointed to director of worm hole ops or some such. Oh yeah and they formed an alliance so that it would be harder for us to war dec them...yeah that worked great for them. What is the alliance fee? 1 bil?
After a week in the new hole we let our presence be known and we found Luna at some GSC's we popped them and then found out they were where he/she was holding all the goodies from the pos while unanchoring and basically stealing everything. My bad...1.4bil Pooof!
A couple of us have a nice convo with Luna and she/he tells us of the plan. I have a good chuckle and decide to tell Verge to try to incite some corp drama. I convo'd kyth3ra and basically get told to get bent.
We pulled out of the worm hole because there was nothing left for us there or soon wouldn't be. A couple days later I got the eve-mail above where Luna tells all. Much thanks for that Luna. I lol'd for a while at that one.
So for the last couple weeks Verge has taken a good hit: Alliance creation: 1 bil (Luna disbanded) Assets destroyed in cans: 1.4bil (Luna's Figure) Ships destroyed in war: meh....not worth mentioning Assets stolen: 700mil
Thought I'd give another view of the destruction.

The amount was actually 1.1 or 1.15 bil since they had to pay someone to create the alliance for them (my alt has the skills, but I was still roleplaying a newb, so I couldn't help them at the time)
Originally by: Marie Morton After a week in the new hole we let our presence be known and we found Luna at some GSC's we popped them and then found out they were where he/she was holding all the goodies from the pos while unanchoring and basically stealing everything. My bad...1.4bil Pooof!
I lied to every corp member in order to be able to steal from them. What exactly makes you think that I told you any truth about what was in the cans that Absalom Marathon popped? The BPO collection was worth too much to leave it somewhere where it could be found/stolen/destroyed. The entire BPO collection was put in a can, loaded into the cargohold of my Alt's Drake. The alt was then logged off until I stopped seeing any traffic or kills in or out of J125011. After about three days, I logged the alt on, scanned a exit out of the w-space, and moved the drake and the BPOs to Stacmon. If you want to verify, feel free to come to Jita 4-4, I will happily put all of the BPOs into a trade window.

Yes, you did tell Kyth3ra of my plan to steal everything, fortunately (for me) he didn't think you were telling the truth. Please train your Persuasion skill to 5 at your earliest convenience.

Oh yeah I don't give a damn, she's been tryin to get at me from the start. Good luck with your evil, if you need help, just yell. -------------------------------- From: Luna O'Brien Sent: 2010.10.24 22:16 To: Kyth3ra,
hehe. mind games to lul her into trusting me and allowing me to get everything out. I have a evil plan in mind, but i need to talk to chris first -------------------------------- From: Kyth3ra Sent: 2010.10.24 22:13 To: Luna O'Brien,
That ****** blows. Yeah she convo'd me to tell me you were a thief and how you're about to steal all our stuff -------------------------------- From: Luna O'Brien Sent: 2010.10.24 22:11 To: Kyth3ra,
ya i had a little convo with marie last night. absalom somehow found the cans and shot them. we lost most of the robotics/heavy water/liquid ozone, all the sleeper loot, and all the modules. --------------------------------
Here, I corrected the numbers for you... So for the last couple weeks Verge has taken a good hit: Alliance creation: 1.1 bil (Luna disbanded) Assets destroyed in cans: 175-200mil (Luna's Actual Estimate) Ships destroyed in wars with Verge and Sanctimony of Bellum: 800.1mil isk (according the Best Served Cold killboard) Assets stolen: 1.91bil+
I will send you a link to the contract when I sell the BPOs if you would like. On that note, "WTS 232 BPOs".
