It read. .. Dear ***** We noticed your account hasn't been active recently (stopped it two months ago). (tl;dr)Could you tell us why? Take survey here ....Thx CCP Research team
Pls CCP - before you send out stuff - make sure it works on all browsers (even IE8).
It doesn't, so you will not get a reply back from me saying that your game needs attention. (like the survey does)
Maybe I will return when you have ironed out the basic flaws and done a re-design.
L8r and thanks for all the fish.
p.s. Account deactivation means no-one can haz my stuff!!!

@Conrad - I'm restricted to be a forum warrior now
@Adida The survey mechanism does not performing properly, returns to the starting page after each couple of pages. Information is lost and has to be redone.
But I will spell it out simply why I let a number of accounts stop.
Eve has nothing to offer except grind and loss. The fun has gone and now it starts to feel like work. Badly paid work. Scamming is boring (done more than been done to), pirating is the same as 0.0 pvp, building corps and manufacturing is as interesting as mining... NOT (sry Chribba)
Game mechanics play a very large part of this and the devs do know what TQ is like in all the areas mentioned, yet they insult my intelligence by asking me to help sort it out as if they do not have a clue!
This game is not evolving quickly enough for me and other MMOs are looking more attractive for that quick burst of fun, and so are worthy of my money.
Pls pass that on to the Research team

I must be logging in to the wrong EVE then. I don't do either of those any more.

I think they know already. Someone probably figured out a while back "oh, people don't like eve because it's so slow paced, not because people don't have avatars or anything else. Oh well, let's just keep throwing content at the game to get new players interested."
The truth is, very few people want to play a game for months and months before they can get into it, and then another couple of months before they can get into something different.
Oh well, I doubt they'll change anything about the basic of the basics of the game mechanics any time soon. Too bad for CCP.

And yet, interestingly enough, people "do" seem to like EVE.
You tend to get out of EVE exactly what you put into it, so if you find it slow paced and boring... lacking that "quick burst of fun"... it is more of an issue generated behind the keyboard than behind the screen.
I'm not saying that to find fault. Everyone needs a break now and then, even from their favorite hobby. However lets firmly place the cause of your lack of interest where it belongs.
OP: Gameplay has only gotten deeper over time, long standing bugs are being fixed at an increasingly rapid pace, design tweaks and improvements that have been asked for are being implimented. The attention you say the game needs is/has been forthcoming, it's your attention that has wavered. ===== If you go to Za'Ha'Dum I will gank you. |

Some people do. Actually, very few people do. Most of the people I know who like games (and like rpg's and strategy and complex simulator games just as much as the occasional FPS) are absolutely repulsed by Eve because of the incredibly slow-paced nature of the game.
This is still my favorite review of Eve.
It describes perfectly why so many people don't like Eve at all. I do find Eve slow paced and boring at first, but after I finally get to do what I want to do after months of training (exploration, pvp, etc.), I find Eve to be a lot of fun.
I'm not going to get into a discussion on whether Eve is "good" or "bad" in an absolute sense. I'm just going to say that most people don't think Eve is a "good" game because of that slow-paced nature. Heck, the only reason I'm playing right now is because I have 1.5 bil on my character, and I don't have enough time to play any other games at the moment, so I'm waiting for my character to train up some new skills :P
EDIT: And no, it does not have to do with "what I put into it". That doesn't really make sense at all, it's not like I'm actively trying to not do anything and wait

Eve is hardly any slower paced than any other mmo out there now and in the past.. and I've played a ton of them over the past decade.
The true difference from Eve and other mmo is the lack of purpose of many things you do in Eve. Eve is probably the only mmorpg I've ever played where the only reason to do anything in the game is to make money or to grief other players. It's the only game where I've had to make my own personal goals to keep me busy and entertained.
Grinding is boring in any game. Yet, in other mmos, whether you're grinding for xp or constantly getting wiped out in guild raids, there was a sense of purpose to it... either through the learning experience of being able to do it better next time or the fact you got to move to bigger and better things later on. Eve lacks the excitement of getting to that next "step" of the game and moving on to something bigger and better. It lacks that sense of accomplishment that you get. Mining, PI, and anything PVE is nothing but clickfests and dulls the mind. Playing minesweeper takes more brainpower. Even PVP lacks a sense of purpose and when there is no sense of loss when you've got a bottomless wallet.

Rubbish. The only difference is that Eve doesn't GIVE you a goal and a set of train tracks to travel down to a predesigned "endgame". Mining and mission running are horrible timesinks only if you expect them to deliver entertainment on their own merits - if you do them FOR something (or while doing something else even if it's just social) they are perfectly justified game design.

That is my point. And what are those such "goals" are there in Eve? There's nothing ever to look forward to. The game lacks anticipation for anything. Mining or missioning FOR something? What purpose do they serve other than for making isk in the end?

Doing l4s does make me able to do the next one better. So here's your learning experience. You can find a way to run a single mission the most efficient way possible by changing your ship and fittings. And since the combination of ship/fitting/skills are almost endless it will take a loooot of time until you find the perfect/fastest way of doing the mission. Which is no less worthy as a goal than doing instances in whatever mmo you're thinking about.
Similar with mining. In the case of mining though it's more a question of logistics than finding the perfect ship/fit.
Of course you can do both just by mindlessly grinding them. Same with other mmos.

Perhaps if there were more varities in the missions or if they were 100x more difficult, that might be the case... which I am all for. I understand all mmos have timesinks, and I have nothing against them, even in Eve if I felt there was a greater sense of purpose to them. I am not anti-Eve,I'm simply pointing out my observations compared to other mmos. It's not only me either, I'm sure plenty would agree there is something "missing" from this game compared to others.

I really don't think that making missions more difficult is a wise idea. They're already more difficult than any pve activity I've seen in any mmorpg I've played. Mainly because you stand to lose a lot if you're not constantly careful. Even with super-expensive ship you can still be ganked by other players.
I do agree eve needs some more variety in missions and other pve activity though. This problem will be somewhat alleviated when Incursion comes but some more missions wouldn't hurt.
And yes there is something missing in eve compared to other mmos but I think there's much more in eve that's missing in those other games.
In the end - if you find a game that you enjoy more than eve you should go play it. Eve is not for everyone. Heck, there isn't a game in the history of the world that's for everyone.

I've experienced that most pve in other mmos are tiered. You start with solo work, then small groups, then large raids. Not so in this game, where it's unfortunately just about maximizing your dps while having sufficient tank, and knowing what to shoot first, second, third, etc. Perhaps if the pve was more like the pvp in this game, it'd make it a bit more interesting. Or maybe if even the NPCs were all like the sleepers and switched agro. In any case, aspects such as agro control and crowd control are missing. You know there is something wrong when you can fit ships to basically semi-afk missions in this game. Even single group grinding in Everquest use to quite boring, but at least you still had to put some thought into and be at your keyboard to accomplish it.

But that's the thing - in the missions in eve the important thing is not so much what you do in those missions as it is about your ship and fitting it. And you have to put much more thought in it than facerolling an instance. And while I haven't tried wh anomalies (yet) it seems to me that they're what you'd enjoy doing. A group based pve where what you do matters and can't be akfed/semi-afked. And again - Incursion seems to be just that - group pve.
