ok so i was watching some vids of huge fleet battles the other day and though to myself, how much lag is produced from the server having to calculate all the ship collisions on blobs warping on a gate, pos, ext and a cap fleet being cynoed in so on and so forth. ------------------------------------------------

It seems to me that ships are the biggest cause of lag. I think ships should be removed, it would significantly cut down on lag.

i was just thinking that if fleets warped and cynoed in formation then we wouldn't have all the bumping and colliding. ------------------------------------------------

I would hazard a very random guess that the act of colliding is not significantly more process intensive than the act of checking if any collision has occurred at all. Even if ships jumped in formation they would still all need collision checks against anchored entities, celestial, and other ships not involved in the jump, so you don't particularly gain any performance.
Bumps in the past have been the cause of massive desynchs tho. That they've been solving by fixing the descynch issue

true it would still have to do a collision check but if there where none then it would not have to proceed further in calculating the effects of a collision. ------------------------------------------------

sansha events lag so bad people can't warp out when they're dying, but you don't complain about that do you.
