I'm in the process of fitting up a Raven to do level 4 missions. Should I go with the frigate killing Hobs or use Hammers for a little better hitting power? |

Yes, I'm an idiot. So used to flying ships that can fit only on set of hobs, I failed to grasp the more massive drone hold of a BS and the possibilities it provides. Thanks!

Don't forget to have an extra set of kinetics on hand for when that's the NPC's resist hole instead of therm.
And maybe some minmatar ones if you ever get missions that go into low.
The strength of the drones is versatility and the 'fire and forget' nature of the things. Take advantage. ---

I've always found that any increase in damage using Hammers over Hobs is negated by the longer travel times between targets.

Stop putting concrete hoods on your drones then.
Hobs for frigs, unless you have omnidirectionals the hammers won't hit as often anyway. Hammers simply do more dmg to cruiser+ and imo it's enough of a difference that it counts, hammers don't take all that long to travel 45km either. Most grouped spawns tend to be close enough that once the drones reach them they don't have far to go for the next target. 2km a sec isn't bad and personally I use them to mop up the cruisers. Force of habit I start with hobs to kill webbing frigs first while I concentrate on long range stuff.

I usually fly with 5x hobs, 5x hornets, 5x warriors. and I'm not convinced the warriors are even worth using.

I actually agree with Abaroth, my tach paladin usually has battleships in structure before the hammerheads show up. And their damage on (battle)cruisers isn't all that impressive either, especially condering that I can 1-2 shot most of them with my guns.

It really depends on number of ships and type. Just yesterday my hammers were taking ages to kill an elite frig (wasn't using a drone ship) so let the hobs take care of it and it popped much quicker. When it comes to the tougher cruisers the hammers are preferrable. Hammers generally prefer sub BS size but being drones they'd hump a rock when you would least expect it. I usually run 2 accounts for missions and even when I 1 shot cruisers I'm still waiting for guns to countdown so I can shoot the next target. It's during that time they tend to make up for their slower speed. As I said before, spawns tend to be clustered, once drones are amongst the cluster they aren't usually spread out by much more than 20km unless you take so long to kill them they get into orbiting range.
