Since I didn't see it reported anywhere, I just wanted to announce, what I think, is the record of most players warped simultaneously into a L4 Recon 3/3 toxic gas cloud. If I'm not mistaken, there were 70 in fleet, of which many Dramiels and faction frigs were in attendance.
I think I am partially responsible for what happened, so I just wanted to offer my condolences to anyone who was present on the Happy Halloween gas cloud party. I know that you thought you were going to a race, so I can see how it could have been confusing. Fortunately my partners and I were paid a handsome reward for helping to orchestrate this arrangement, which was all meant in good fun.
Our good friend who pressed the button is welcome to take all the credit. :)
I'd like to add that we did try to pod all of you, unfortunately we didn't factor in warp-in angles into our plan. When you're as lazy and sometimes drunk as us, it doesn't always go as planned.. I guess... until next time. :)
I offer this screenshot as a little sample of the fun we had... Toxic Cloudy thing

No, it sounds more like... hey, I'm having a race. Winner gets XXXX ISK. Join my fleet, and I'll warp us all to the starting line.
People are foolish, want easy ISK, and think a race... gee... I'll take a fast frigate. They join fleet.
Fleet boss has mission already setup, warps fleet to mission, hears wonderful tears of grief as all those frigates pop because of the mission's damaging gas cloud.
I just wish i could have salvaged all those T2 interceptor wrecks!

This is absolutely gorgeous. Do you have logs from local / fleet chat? There must be oceans of tears flowing from that.
On another note, does this mission still spawn a damage cycle for each ship that warps in? I thought I had seen something about that being changed a while back but I can't remember. Fix Rockets in '08 '09 2010 2011 2012?! |

The BS wreck was our "attempt" at podding everyone. It wasn't sanctioned by our client, but we thought it could be a fun bonus. Unfortunately warp in angle issues and the speed at which concord disabled our podding ship happened much more quickly than expected.
The Disco raven wasn't in the warp-in fleet because it might have spooked them.
Several pod pilots did meet their vats, however. Just not as many as we would have liked. I would like to present that as a challenge for people who may want to improve upon this first such attempt. :)

Edit: By hard I mean in a frig/cruiser.. Im going to assume the group was told to bring small ships...
I used to do this mission (and the previous one) in either a T1 frig or an interceptor, I can no longer remember, which. So it's definitely doable with a small ship. You just need to be going fast enough not to get hit by the cloud too many times (oh, and do remember to switch your regular MWD for an AB...).
This has been the best chuckle in C&P for weeks. :)

This is funny as sh!t because I've done this sort of thing to a smaller number of people. It's beautiful because the number of ships that warp into the mission starts a new reaction for each ship... So in essence, 40 ships warping in all at once equals 40 initial explosions. Work of god damn art. 10/10

Almost, you need to stagger the warp-in. Unless something changed. I note there was some vague recon 3/3 change referred to in a patch not but I never checked what it was. If that had been the case here then the smartbombing bs would have died to all the gas cloud explosions. Only one wave would be triggered if they all enter grid at once.
Still good fun ~_~

It was one of those things where the stars just aligned to make it happen, with very little planning. It was a team effort where everyone played a part. I just brought the right parties together to make it work.
I tend to think of myself as a kind of Joker of EVE. I set chaos in motion and kick back and watch the fires burn. It's a unique play style and I hope more people adopt it, because it is truly the most shiny multiplayer aspect of this game.

Unfortunately, as of Dominion (dec 2009), recon 3/3 no longer spams toxic gas waves on ships warping in. No warping in your shuttle fleet to pop BS 'guarding' the cloud, if its already been triggered.
In fact, you can even tank, at least the first wave, in recon 3/3 with a vigil. Just throw on dual MSE and you're set!
(such a vigil can also tank the explosion from Kruul's Pleasure Palace. ) NATI. |

the day ccp bans you guys the better off this game will be tbh (to be honest). if you lost a ship to this exploit then petition. so you bought a well known character that did events and blew up some t1 frigates. good job. enjoy your ban.

And with one sentence, you have killed off any desire I had for fleet PvE. The killmail's in the post.

So when I first read this, I lol'd pretty hard. Then I re-read it, and Lol'd again. Then I noticed Guiding Hand, and ROFL'd.
This has sparked ideas....

I thought the race was to see who was gonna scramble together and GTFO the quickest. - I'd tell you why but then I'll have to kill you. And to kill you I'd have to log in. And to log in I'd have to stop browsing these forums. Both you and me knows that'll never happen. |

The crowing in this thread is a little OTT. It was fun and death was expected (by most at least )
This was a T'Amber event
Scene:
Warp 100km from a T'Amber alt and race to be the first one to bump ship - prize unknown.
This was the first 'event' outside Jita, most people had been expecting to have been smartbombed already. T'Amber was dropping rather a lot of hints to update clones/bring cheap ship/use alts etc
Other than 1 or 2 faction ships and half a dozen T2 frigs, the rest were T1 and noob ships. ----------------------------------------------------------- In the beginning the universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move |

It's regrettable that T'Amber couldn't be engineered to drop his fluffy carebear feathers and execute this in a way that's truly deserving of my standard vision of pain. Normally you would think of my corp emblem and imagine long grandiose scheming and working on perfect execution to the smallest detail.
That just wasn't the case. I had 3 days, an angst filled fellow needy for attention, and a gas cloud.
I never met T'Amber before, but somehow felt it, as if by intuition, that he might be able to be used for our nefarious purposes.
After suggesting the idea, T'Amber loved it to the tune of actually paying us 1 billion isk to provide him the gas cloud, which we got for almost zero effort. In my general opinion, I'd say a billion isk for Recon 3/3 is a pretty good "agent reward". :)
so, tl;dr...
I got a substantial piece fo T'Amber's pie (without having to jump through his hoops), and arranged for lots of people to die. It's such creative and effortless griefs, executed on-the-fly, that earn the respect of the Guiding Hand, and show you what is possible in the sandbox of EVE.
So, far from perfect, I'm sure this can be topped. I'm encouraging you all to show me how.
