PRETTY - Amarr -> Minmatar -> Caldari -> Gallente - UGLY note: CCP deliberately made most spaceships either a bit ugly, ugly or very ugly.
Amarr: goldens space birds and similar stuff. At least most look like "normal" spaceships Minmatar: duct tape but at least it looks like spaceships Caldari: random grey square parts glued together, Moa #1 ugliest ship in the game Gallente: most ships look like secretion from some space monster
Prettiest EVE ship: Ashimmu.
Your welcome (several ashimmu pics inside)

All races have at least some ugly ships, caldari are hit and miss and seem with gallente, most minmatar ships look like crap (the old ones anyway).
Amarr however seems to consistently hit the mark on good looking ships. ------

Though, I think the apoc and the e-war frig are rather ugly. They look like they're not finished with a bunch of scaffolding all over them... not very appealing.

I actually usually like Gallente the best.
They're really the only ships that look like they were actually designed for space travel. Amarr look like boats, which makes no goddamned sense, Caldari look like buildings (with a couple exceptions) or outrigger boats (which make even less sense).
Minmatar come a close second, because while Gallente boats really reflect a design free from the constrictions of planetary life (gravity, aerodynamics, coherent traditions, etc) Minmatar boats really reflect the idea that resources in space are rare and difficult to extract with their 'recycle everything' look. ---

You probably wanted to say that Amarr ship designs had a phallic look to them, right?
Quote: 2.Caldari,for their realistic designs (most of the time)
I don't know. Look at some of their ships - apparently, they have three or more different main engine types mounted on the same type of ship (e.g. Kestrel). That would be a huge maintenance nightmare in real life and make the ship more expensive to build than it had to be.
If Caldari ships were a little more symmetrical, I'd agree.

Indeed! Even worse on Minmatar ships. Tho I like the general shape of most Minmatar ships those scaffoldings are really ugly imho. Tempest for instance. A very nice form but ugly grids and plates over and over. But then...it just fits to the Minmatar background ^^
I'm really curious if this special design aspect of Minmatar and said Amarr ships will remain when the other ships will be redesigned! The Loki at least doesn't have any grids, plates or spikes attached.
@OP: I prefer the the new Caldari style. Tengu and Scorpion hull. Looks very dark, clean and high tech.

1) Amarr, They're pretty, no doubt about it, best looking ships in eve 2) Caldari, some good ships, most ralistic looking out of the four factions 3) Minmatar, Utter garbage, like gunk taped together after from the crap you find at your local scrap metal reprosessing plant 4) Gallente, Downright ugly, absolutely disgusting, looks like a 4 year old has stuck playdo together
my top 11 ships:
1) Anthema 2) Omen 3) Scorpion 4) Rokh 5) Revelation 6) Merlin 7) Drake 8) Ferox 9) Harby 10) Pheonix 11) Nyx (other gallente ships need reprocessed and thier materials used to make children's toys and the gallente genocided)

Agree with this, but the ugliest ships are clearly the Moa, Blackbird, and Raven. And the new scorp hull just makes me facepalm irl.

I think CCP has willingly decided they wanted ugly ships in their game. It's not very hard to design better looking ships, look at the "design a spaceship" contest. They not only wanted a harsh and cold world but also an ugly world. Strange people, those Icelandic devs! I'm quite surprised the new characters look nice, I'd almost expected ugly bald pod pilots with fluid-swollen bodies.
Originally by: Qiwi'Lisolet REALISTIC : Caldari -> Minmatar -> Gallente -> Amarr : UNREALISTIC
Asymmetrical ships aren't realistic, any flight through gas clouds or planertary atmosphere will make your ship lose control and subsequently - in case of an atmosphere - the ship will just burn and explode. Next to that a lot of ships don't seem to be very solid. A lot of Minmatar ships don't look like they can handle a lot of G-forces or asteroid collisions, yet alone surive warp drive acceleration. What that's concerned I'd say: REALISTIC : Gallente/Amarr -> Caldari -> Minmatar : UNREALISTIC So no, EVE ships definitely don't look realistic. Most do really defy the laws of aerodynamics. Some may say it's not needed because space is mostly vaccuum but EVE space definitely isn't.

I prefer Amarr vessels, although many Gallente and Caldari ships appeal to me. Very few Minmatar vessels look good to me- usually the ones that don't look like they were assembled by MacGyver while trapped in a dark cave with nothing but a cardboard box, some duct tape, and a paper clip.

If you look closely you can see the grain in the plywood on my Tempest. Seriiously though, I think all the races have their good looking and ugly ships. The new Scorpion design is rather nice looking. <=========================================> Originally by: CCP Wrangler EVE isn't designed to just look like a cold, dark and harsh world, it's designed to be a cold, dark and harsh world.
