to be honest, im not gonna TOUCH most of the suggestions here as a SB pilot. see a domi ratting/whatever? im leaving it alone. warrior 2's will ruin my day. as said above, im leaving arty boats alone. the harb idea? yea. been there done that. a pulse harb is a good bomber killer, but a smart pilot wont engage unless hes feeling rather ****y.
what would get me?
try an geddon, (125 bandwidth) put a bit of a buffer on it (not too much, if im not denting you too quickly, im donna disengage if im spooked. however if i think im close to the kill, i'll stay where normally i wouldnt.), long point (long as possible. im going to engage at around 20-24km myself) fill the bay with LARGE drones. have them out. have the mids filled (besides point) with SEBO. do not activate the SEBO until the bomber decloaks. have your friends near you, but logged out. (wh hunting im going to have any known chars that inhabit the hole im camping on watchlist.) one or two should be in fast tackle, because as soon as i see my watchlist light up, im going to try and GTFO. you should be able to fill in the blanks from here.
logic? im going to see the geddon with larges, and know he has no warriors in reserve. looks like a decent target. the SEBOs would be my first clue somethings not right, but i'd probably continue. if your friends are fast, they have a decent shot at snaring him.
*edit* to keep the bomber pilot from simply blinking cloak, make it very obvious you are aligned to your POS. if i blink the cloak, your gone.
*edit 2* have your friends with scrams +webs. if you just have long points, even if your friends snare me, im just going to try and burn off. scram will destroy my MWD ability.
sorry for the wall of text, and i might have left some things out, but its late, its friday night, and im slightly drunk. lol

A sensor boost arty cane will give a SB fits, it sure as hell did me once. But anything with decent tracking and some range and reasonably fast lock will.

Edited by: Soldarius on 21/11/2010 05:38:13 SB max lock range is roughly 75km. Range on the torps is 40-50km. Range on the point is 20-24km. Why bother with SeBo? A single unbonused ship is not going to damp a SB down far enough to have a useful effect. Multiple ships on the other hand could do it easily (no stacking penalty). But at that point, SB is dead anyway.
Ninja EDIT: doy. for faster lock time. nvm "When you have to shoot, shoot. Don't talk." |

Another point... if he has a bomb launcher on the bomber, he's gimped his ship in one way or another. he cant fit 3 launchers+cloak+ bomb launcher AND have a probe launcher. so either he has a scanning alt in system, he's down 1 launcher, or he has no bomb launcher. (because running a STEALTH bomber without the STEALTH is utter fail.)

cheap, ship for the job is a arty thrasher works as well as a cane....but a lot cheaper...if your using a bait ship, like a domi, then you prolly wont loose it either.

He may well be just intel gathering in which case he is unlikely to put himself in harms way. The only way to get him is (as above) to bait him. Let him think he's getting a kill and then anbush the weasel. Do your own intel, does he get lazy and always use the same spots, try to use this to your advantage. Give him something to occupy his mind whilst you try to plot his location. Unfortunately, you have to think like a thief to catch a thief and in this case, you have to think like a sneaky little git to catch one.

Any somewhat smart bomber pilot isnt going to engage anything cruiser size or down, minus your odd unarmed salvager. bombers have less tank than a wet paper bag, so the idea is to avoid taking damage in the first place.
Sure, engaging the small stuff is POSSIBLE, but this isnt like the bombers of old poppin off cruise missiles from range. any frigate/destroyer will promptly rip a SB a new *******. getting him to ENGAGE, on the other hand.....

What's with all the "use a domi as bait" suggestions? Domi is famous for having more drones than it knows what to do with, and small drones can ruin our day fast. If you're running gallente bait, use the Mega, that's something I might go for if it has heavies. Especially if it's ratting with a sniper fit for some reason.
Basically, we look for stupid/unprepared people. A domi is almost never unprepared, you need to bluff harder with your bait ship. ---

the reason to use a bomber over an inty to snag him is this:

Alpha it with a trasher.
basically if you can lock a SB you have it dead.
unfortunately, any decent SB pilot will be aligned and initiating warp a half second after his bomb is launched, so locking is close to impossible. Sarcasm - Because i'm too far away to strangle you. |

Give the SB pilot something "juicy" to scan out as a bait and try getting a point on his arse when he engages.
Sometimes it works and sometimes he's/they're actually smart/experienced enough to avoid the trap.
Lone SB pilots rarely want to be suicidal and avoid groups larger than 3.

Its a stealth bomber......... Get a fast locking myrm, a force recond, pretty much anything with a fast lock and guns. Perferably smallish so torps are ineffective......
Wait for Stealth Bomber to decloak to kill said Dominix.
WHAT????? If anyone ever loses a Domi to a SB they should just quit the game now. Its better that way.

well considering an experienced stealth bomber would come in an harass you then good luck trying to catch him. The only way you will catch him is if he slips up.

To those of you hoping to catch a stealth bomber with artillery or other long range weapons... whats stopping me uncloaking under your tracking? in fact id quite like u all to fit the big guns please would give me a hell of a load more targets! just dont bring light drones you see this is all very situational any bomber pilot worth his salt is going to be scanning system for ambushes and wont engage anything with anti-frig guns or light drones! you need to be lucky or have the pilot make a mistake otherwise he will just disingauge, cloak and start the fun all over again. aka the only thing i can see working is the anti bomber cov-ops with some bait! just dont sit too close to the bait ship if the bomber likes to use u know ... use bombs lol

precision missiles will kill it before he can warp off if hes not aligned. Killed 4 of em the other day and they were all 55km away from me, didnt even point them. |
