My question is: For solo PvP, which of these Amarr elite frigates is the best considering catching, fixing and destroying the enemy?

Crusader or Malediction.

Edited by: Ukiah on 07/01/2005 19:16:51 I'd agree with Meridius. Both the Crusader and Malediction are overlooked as SoloPVP ships. The Crusader has the edge in firepower, but low CPU makes it difficult to vary the setup on it. It basically consists of fitting the biggest guns your skills allow you to fit.
The Malediction, on the other hand, is significantly better in regards to tailoring setups and as a pure tackle ship. I have 1v1 beaten several Taranis's with a Malediction.
*edit* I should mention, even with the recent changes to MWD's to not nerf shields, the Crusader still seems more rugged than the Malediction.

Definately the intercepters. From what I have read they are even getting more love from CCP in an upcoming patch. Tomb has a sticky at the top of this forum about the upcoming upgrades. The assault frigates are disappointing. I dont expect them to really be good for much more than NPC rats until the developers start wondering why everyone is flying intercepters and you dont see the assaults much any more. Until then the intercepter will be far far superior.

for pure 1v1 then you cannot beat a crusader, If you are fighting fleet battes etc then u will need a male for its mid slots (scrambler+web)

Assault ships are way better, you wont be taking on anythin ghigher than a frigate in your inty, so why not get the ultimate frig ganker?
you can put web + 20km disruptor in mid on a vengence. Still have tank enough to kill 4-5 intys pounding on you. --

I've had days where i've killed more cruisers then frigs in a Crusader.

But in response to that, assault ships pwn cruisers. I took a taranis and a blasterrax on in my Harpy. The Taranis died and the thorax had like 20% armor left :) --

Thats because the north is *** Ham
Web doesn't do much when i orbit at 16-17km anyway, caracals, dual ab ruptures, rax's, only problem i've ever had is keeping up cap for the ruptor. It's only made the fights a 1000 times more intense tho.
AF's are too damn slow and heavy for my taste, they need an ultimate makeover bad, lipo and all. ________________________________________________________

Crusader and Retribution are just as good in terms of damage, the difference however comes around when your webbed, crusader dies, but the retribution doesnt care and keep on hammering away. __________________________________________

9 out of 10 times the crusader will be to fast to get in that situation, where as the retribution will get stuck everytime

Thanx much for the info and insight. I bought a crusader a few days ago and have been using it to hunt our corps enemy. Have killed three of their cruiser so far with it.
Also bought a retribution, disappointed that its PvP capability is severly lacking, but it is a great PvE ship.
Thanks again.

Assault ships are not for solo pvp, as none of them can really afford to fit a scrambler - and most of them require a webber ('cept the Retribution, which can track anything with godliness at any necessary range).

Harpy 2x 125 2 2x 150 2 1x standard launcher
1x web 1x 20km disruptor 1x small cap battery 2 1x med c5-L
2x pdu 2's
You only need to tank them long enough to kill them, go after the EM damage dealers first (malediction / crusader / crow w/ em missiles)
And dont forget about claws with emp --

Yeah, ceptors are definately better for solo pvp, purely because they can actually catch stuff. You can fit a scrambler/webber to a vengeance easily enough but it's too slow to get in range of anything that'd try to warp out, unless you're lucky. An assault frig + ceptor duo works extremely effectively, though; especially a malediction & retribution
