Quit whining. You don't NEED implants.
How selfish. I bet you advocate for newcomers never be able to catch up in skills with veterans too, do you ?
While I agree a vet could live without implants, Eve is the slowest game available on the market, and the only game where newbies do not stand a chance to catch up. With or without implants, but without is much worse !
I disagree with this approach, and would like to see the implant problem solved too. Either get rid of them all together, or make them available easily at least up to +2

They don't have to catch up, Sorja.
Most of us old-timers wasted a lot of time on skills that aren't needed. New players have the advantage of access to more knowledge and can optimize their skill training in the right areas.
For example, at least 3M of my 22M sp's are wasted on minmatar/amarr ship skills and proj/laser gunnery skills. Another 1M or so are wasted on industry/mining skills.
This means someone who started 4 months after me has probably got the same effective skill rating as me.

Implants are supposed to be RARE, only the ultra-rich, and well-connected are supposed to have them.
Actually, that's wrong since implants were introduced in late august/early september of 2003...I know because i was there and traded an armageddon BS for a set,and the funny part is that,15 months later, they're still the same ones, despite the fact that i've spent nearly 8 months in 0.0...
So those regions aren't necessarily a death sentence for implant users, even if you fight...Just be mentally prepared to lose them should the worst happen.

Simple, bring implants back as pre exodus but scratch the advanced learningskills then, since those will give you a + on attributes aswell people will start maoning about that. I still have to see the threat where people complain about the advanced learningskills.
Thos skills when trained to lvl 4 are a constant +4 implant which you won't loose if your Clone is updated. Shall we remove that feature aswell then?
In other words: CCP gave everyone an affordable +5 implant if they decide to train it that high.
Implants from missions or that drop from rats are now a luxury good and I think it's all for the better. Before I get flaming remarks about it. I am an agent runner and I made nice ISK on implants.

Originally by: Babs Johnson Losing a full set of +3 implants several months ago was the best thing to happen to me in this game.
I refer to the event as Liberation Day. This game in general and 0.0 in particular have been substantially more enjoyable since I no longer have to worry about losing implants.
Totally agree 100%.

Exactly my thoughts as well...A lot of players back then had to be a jack of all trades since the game itself was still going thru a lot of bug fixes and balance changes...I remember the time when you couldn't armour tank an apoc and run lasers with the hope that you actually had any sort of combat endurance for instance,as capacitor requirements with that setup were far too great, which forced me to learn to use rails as well as projectiles until the required changes were made...
Now i have no use for those at all, they make my gunnery skill point total higher, but that's about it...

I dont use implants. I clonejump through empire on a daily basis.
I dont really care that you think that god will rain fire and brimstone upon you if you lose them. Theyre not that important, and you can live without them.
Putting them in is a bonus. Nothing more. You dont need the bonus, and it wont kill you to lose.
And for the record, I hate your idea with a passion because tolling pods (which presumably have implants) is one of the last ways to actually make money ransoming.

Yup, I disagree as well, even though I use implants; they are a one way street for me.

its not about playing catch up with skills, its the moral of many people in empire that suffering. To most people if they knew the extream value of their current setup, not many can simply through it away. Its a strange but very real effect.
some of my friends have made mistakes and implants are a big mistake, puts to much presure on combat (tho's who say otherwise i find a bit patronizing and detached from others situations).
i hate implants never got um, but some people jumped straight into the deal without thinking about it. I think the current situation is a bit final without excape and too say something like "fix your problem by self destructing you pod" is simply out of touch with desperate empire foke.
There is no real issue with un-plugging implants, it doesnt make newcommers directly more powerfull, on the contrary, it puts more empire dwellers into the 0.0 regions giving alliances more bait / more fun. It frees up many people that just cant destroy there 100mill implants.
I wish implants were never put into the game it makes death too expensive, and i wish the empire dwellers were as vocal as the veterans.

Simple solution: Don't buy +3 implants. +2's are more then affordable in most cases if you can find them and do a fine job though you probably lose 2 hours max on some skills.
With that said I wouldn't mind being able to unplug the hardwire implants and not the attribute ones to resell when I get better ones.

Heh,i'm a veteran who's also spent a great deal of time in 0.0 and now resides in empire,a lot richer and enjoying a well deserved retirement, all without ever unplugging my implants..
For me,i kept it real simple as far of 0.0 is concerned, get in,get rich while performing your required duty, get out once ones greed has been satisfied..
