Question is in the subject line. --------------------- So I just touched some clothes at Goodwill, then rubbed my eye. Am I going to get pregnant? 'Cause I can NOT get pregnant right now!! ~ Mike Ferguson |

I know, from people that do not like duck, that one of the biggest complaints with most people that do not like duck is that it is way too oily for their liking. This is so because duck require a good bit of insulation to keep warm in cold winters. I would assume that penguin would be even worse. Also add in the fact that penguins prefer the southern hemisphere I doubt any real market has been created for that reason alone There is plenty of meat available much closer I would hazard.

Pengiuns are predators, so they meat isnt tasty or good. Same reason why no one eats cats, dogs, sharks etc.

I think you need to do a bit more investigation into different cultures and their food preferences

Under the Antarctic Conservation Act, any U.S citizen who TOUCHES a Penguin would be fined $5000. If you maliciously injure or kill one, you can be fined $10,000 and go to jail for a year.
Penguins are famously inedible, "If it's possible to imagine a piece of beef, odiferous cod fish and a canvas-backed duck roasted together in a pot, with blood and cod-liver oil for sauce, the illustration would be complete."

I watched Andrew Zimmern eat some puffin on bizarre foods and mostly want to go to Iceland just to eat puffin
Quote: Vestmanneyjar (Westman Islands)
Andrew joins the Icelandic Puffin Hunters Club on their quest for puffins and then he eats grilled puffin and smoked puffin.
(that other tv show where they said the dating culture mostly consisted of one night stands isn't the reason I swear!) |

There's is saying in china that " if it moves a Cantonese will eat it"
Anyway people are not eating penguins because they are a) mostly endangered species b) if you think that brits & americasn crying about eating smoked reindeer at Christmas is bad wait till they start to serve them a penguin...
Or considering the practises of corporate America swap b) for a).

I'm british and I don't see a problem with eating reindeer... after all we do eat venison in the UK, can't be that much different right?
As for the puffin thing, I seem to remember Jeremy Clarkson saying on QI that he had eaten whale and the waiter asked if he wanted some grated puffin on it

It's more of "a baawww I'm eating Rudolph at cristmas" thing which requires something not working in the head and usually it seems to be the brits and americas that go baawww about it, go figure.
I just had to mention that since it wasn't long ago that LIDL was hading difficulties selling their wares in britain because of "baaaww it's Rudolph". This one actually http://m.yle.fi/w/uutiset/yle24/ns-yduu-3-2143350 and the translation which for a miracle seems to be accurate enough. Personally I've never really understood all that crying about eating/hunting furry animals when the same people would happily trample every singly non-furry & poisonous animal to dust.

hi cat here
that anecdote reminds me of a gordon ramesey show (i think) i saw where he was off eating various things for some reason. they were catching puffins for some foods and the man teaching gordo reached into the puffin and ripped out its still beating heart like that dude from temple of doom - and then gobbled it right up lol
then he made gordon eat raw puffin heart lol
once i had set myself a quest to eat one of every animal in the world but then i realised most animals are pretty minging actually
