i'd also like to see some inclusion of the transveral velocity on the comparison.
also right now there is no reason to fit 1200's, not on a tempest anyway, fitting 6x1200's only leaves room for a shield/gank setup, but not armortanking. so to i agree that the 1200's need some boost to fill the niche of 20-30km where the 1400 has trouble tracking the smaller vessels and doing good damage. i cant tell from the chart but right now you are better of fitting a tracking comp II to hit those cruisers or BC's with 1400's instead.

Edited by: Rexy on 11/01/2005 19:35:14 it also would appear that at the optimal range for 1400's they are outclassed by the lasers and 425's. after 50km or so they win in damage from the 425's. wich is nice, but it's only 3/4(not half, but it drops pretty quick) the damage done at optimal. that's not gonna break an apoc's tank, or win the fight :/, it would be usefull for sniping frigs/cruisers and ,when in groups , give longer range to engage and kill other bs's at.

indeed, longer range ammo is a waste on autocannons, since the extra range in meters is not worth the loss in damage output. on 1400's it's not worth it because the damage just isnt worth the time :/. so a comparison of different ammo's on ranges would be cool.

you also know the damage output on shortrange? blasterboats dont need more defence, they just need some way to not die on the approach.not to make em tough cookies to kill+ above average damage output.
To stay on topic, combat is fixed at ranges between 0-60km these days, even more limited to 20km because of the maximum scrambler ranges. so without changes to that any short range loadouts will always have an advantage over loadouts relying on range.

orbit in something small like a typhoon works pretty well against med range guns, just not missiles/blasters. however 650's or something do have huge problems tracking your target then.

yeah but, you know, Modal neutrons are not easy to fit
sweet, so a med blaster outdamages a heavy projectile autocannon, not bad.

Originally by: Woetra The problem with autocannons is the low damage, fine - gg
The problem with arties is that they are only effective at long range and so are suitable only for gate camping at extreme range, or warping to a bookmark.
Most PvP is spontaneous and a tempest with 1400's is not going to get time to get into position. Against NPC's you will again need bookmarks to make the best use of your guns.
This could be fixed with a 'warp to' option of 100km & up the lock range on associated ships. Adjusting the damage will not fix the problem on arties.
well the range is nice enough, but the damage just isnt there to hurt anybody bad :/

Originally by: Letifer Deus so now the 800mm repeathing is going to have only 2.3% lower tracking than a neutron cannon, yet still have 60% better effective range? *cough fix blasters*
other then cap blasters seem fine to me, even on shortrange setups i steer wel clear of anything with blasters.. the damage from autocannons does in no way compare to blasters

an additional problem is since we're more or less forced to shieldtank you cant lockdown the other dude.
but with 1400's gettting of enough damage seems to be a problem :/
