Hi everyone, we are a small corporation looking to join FW - we are based in the Forge Region. Are there daily battles going on in FW with Caldari ? Or are we better off joining the Amarr FW ? In addition to this we are all PVP virgins - is there a corporation or pilots that would be willing to show us the basics on flying in a fleet in low sec etc ?
TLDR
Is there anyone willing to help noobs at FW ? Is there anything going on in Forge Region ? Should I join Caldari or Amarr Fw ?

You may want to check the last 3-4 pages of the 16 page thread on this forum about whats going on in Caldari/Gallente.
Currently there is a civil war going on between us (Draketrain) and 2 others corps for reasons explained in that thread.
Other than that Caldari/Gallente front is very active with Caldari being more dominant in EU TZ and Gallente in US TZ.
Just don't do what the rest of the Militia seems to do and base out of Nourvakiken jumping into the almost constantly camped Tama gate >.<
If you're new to pvp just get your guys in frigates and go around in a little gang :)

Thank you for the prompt response - What would you recommend as a good starting area for us to base from ? We are in Isikisu (homebase) - is there anything near there ? In addition to this - What roles should we train for to be useful to a support fleet (since we starting in Frigates I don't mind losing a dozen of them as long as we can just figure out wth is going on).

Typically its fast moving ships. General Militia roams will often advertise "BC down" etc meaning BC or smaller ships to keep moving fast. I'd aim to refine skills in that area and then once you're in the militia and familiar I think you will find your own direction from there.
If you're all in frigs and happy to just treat them as throw away, then dive right in :) Best way to learn.
Most activity will be in Tama to be truthfull, so you can play there if your just getting your feet wet but after being in a while people move on from there. Just becareful of the local pirates like snuffbox who fight with 2 Absolutions and 6 Guardians

Forge is not really part of FW region (high-sec ganks aside) even though Nourvukaiken is near. My recommendation, since you appear inexperienced, would be to put ships and jump clones to high-sec Black Rise around Onnamon (accessible through Piak). You have three low-sec entry systems nearby (into Kinakka, Akidagi and Ikoskio) plus the markets, agents and stations services there are pretty good.
These area offer pirates and war target mission runners to chase around and in lesser numbers than in the "pipes" near Tama so it's somewhat "softer landing" into pvp perhaps. You can also go and start taking smaller faction warfare complexes in Gallente controlled Placid region and hope to pull in pirates and war targets for a fight, while also removing some of the worst blobbage via the means of acceleation gates.
As for ship fitting, just ask in militia chat but try to rely on the one given by people who know their stuff. For starters, if somebody offers you a ship fitting of any size without microwarp drive or afterburner, dont listen to him.

another good system is Oshaima (high sec)/Hysera (low sec).
good market
lvl 5 agent
lvl 4 agent
very near all parts of the conflict and not directly on the main pipe.
allways some pies to kill. WE ARE in STASIS NOW!

I must disagree here because ultimately route to Hysera only leads to main pipes aka "the ****" and it's probably not optimal experience for a new and small corp to start out with.

Lol - well I loaded up a industrial full of frigates and T1 equip and headed on out. Got nuked on the way to the station by a battleship waiting at the entrance. Oh well. Live and learn.
I think I'll try and grind up that last 0.95 standing and then use a jumpclone and maby just take a single frigate in next time. BTw - are amarr frigates any good for FW in the Onnamon region ?

About as useful as any other frigate I quess. My opinions and suggestions are below:
Executioner - Fast and fragile. Works as expendable tackler fitted with ab/mwd and scram/long point. You might be able to fit some resemblance of tank to low-slots but are probably better off with overdrives and nanos for speed since you will die fast anyhow and if you are fast, the enemy might miss you (few times). Looks damn cool though
Tormentor/Magnate - Not worth it.
Inquisitor: Might work as plated, mwd/scram for some close-up damage but i'd probably wait until rocket boost comes. Again, two mid-slots hurt here.
Crucifier: Amarr frigate with 3 mid-slots! Heresy, burn it! Well, at least you can get some mileage out of it in gang. I've seen people fly it with propulsion and 2 td's or propulsion, long point and td fits. Some tank fits to low-slots and long targeting range does help it to stay out of harms way.
Punisher: The best t1 Amarr frigate. Tanks like hell, moves like a one-legged rhino. Again, the two mid-slots hurt here because you wont be fitting a web there. Bulk of the fits seem to autocannon fits with remaining high-slot being taken by nosferatu or energy neutralizer, depending whether it's buffer tanked or active tanked.
Some people have also flown mwd-long point punishers and fitted low-slots full of speed modules to kite enemies at range. Not sure how well this works.
Anyway, punisher really needs a friend with a web to keep people in place so they cannot escape too easily.
As you can probably see, the annoying pattern of "2 mid slots" hurts Amarr frigates quite a lot because most of the time you do want that stasis web there, especially if you hope to catch other frigates.

More corps in Amarr FW is always welcome. There are a number of systems (including some pocket high sec ones) in Bleaklands you could base out of that would put you fairly close to the frontlines and other systems for roams. Just try it out, or have a chat to some of the guys in Amarr FW corps. The militia fleets I have been in have been generally pretty decent (people wise - outcomes have sometimes been good, sometimes not so. That's FW though - you never know what you going to face and neither do they...). If you don't want to do out and out PvP, small fast gangs can head into Minnie systems to capture theirs and/or defned the Amarr held ones.

Well after DT today we should be enlisted. How easy is it to find people to fly with ? I don't fancy doing solo for my first bunch of runs.

What timezone are you guys in? If you're in US TZ, send me an eve-mail and I'd be happy to give you guys an intro. I won't be on much until tomorrow night with the holiday winding down, but feel free to look me up anytime after. There are fleets put together nightly.
I'd reinforce what Damar says. Find a high-sec system in Black Rise where you can run normal missions for Cal Navy or some other NPC corp to make some isk, and drop anchor there. Then, for PvP, work out of Onnamon, Samanuni, or Ichoriya (these would also make for good mission systems although finding cheap corp offices in the station may be difficult).
