Weren't you implying that the learning skills were some buffer to prevent the idiots from getting in. I think you've amply demonstrated that this doesn't work.

Selling is trading, so yes. If you don't get the market then you won't maximise the returns from your loot.
I don't do much trading because it annoys me, but I dabble from time to time when it's in my interests. I understand a few areas of the market either from buying stuff for my own ships or selling stuff I've picked up.
Go look at any successful company, bet they have a fair few brains devoted to things that aren't their core business, but do help them buy stuff cheaper, sell stuff for more and sell more stuff.
