A wide variety of problems have been identified with the various aspects of making a POS profitable. I suggest that a series of starbase skills could fix this.
For example, Starbase mainframe management gives a 5% CPU requirement per level. Warhousing Specialist gives a 5% increase to silo capacity. Starbase Fision reaction tech reduces the requiement for issotopes by 5% a level.
These skills could have insane skill requirements and prices to keep everyone from tossing up a scrapheap in space (mine is looking like Sanford and Sons!) This would encourage yet another player class in eve, and allow those serious about making POS profitable able to do so.

Dont try to train everything. Or just accept that is going to take you a long time. --------------------------------------------------

I think the need is more along the lines of a couple roles that allow various levels of usage. Right now we only have Config Starbase Equipment. MY corp won't hand that role out to people, except those directly in charge of the POS, since they are the only ones that need to be able to anchor/unanchor and online/offline. However, that means those people without that role can't even see in a corp hangar or shipo maintenance array, because they don't have the required role. We need a role called "Use Starbase Equipment" that will allow the other corp members, who are using it for mining/refining and some ship storage, to actually be able to easily interface with the POS. I, myself, would like to be able to change my role at will, so that when I don't need to config, I can't. I've unanchored too many structures already, simply by accident, due to the poor design of the context menu that puts the most used option, "Access *******" by the least desired one, "Unanchor Structure"

I have to agree with therian .... the design of the context specific right click menu is POOR ...CCP hope you read this... there can be no claim of quality control when you don't spot the fact that putting unanchor option next to access hangar or access ammo option is just plain lack of common sense ...sort yourselves out please ...use a simple common sense !

What's the point of these skills? It's not like anybody will ever use their main char for skills like these. it will be mostly CEO's and directors who will just use one of their 2nd account alts with corp money to lean it.

Edited by: Snake Jankins on 17/01/2005 12:13:30 In my opinion a pos should be profitable without many special skills. Ok, I'd use my production alt for this or even another alt, if these special skills become reality, because I want to enjoy every aspect of the game. ( My main char doesn't have the attributes to learn this sort of skills: pure fighter generated in the trial with no knowledge of the skill system )
