How do you guys feel about hunting animals, the main reasons for hunting are the following (in no specific order).
1. Fur 2. Meat -> Food 3. Epeen 4. Income -> Carpets etc 5. Medicine
Personally I dont approve of any harm (physical or mental) to anything from environment to animals to insects to plants and people need to be efficient if death is necessary (eating healthy means eating fruit / veg and not Fugu for example).
Hunting yay / nay?

Are we talking about age of refrigeration? Where food does not spoil for months or are we talking about third world country where killing chickens every day is how you get meat in your stew?
Vegies will spoil too, by the way. So 100% vegetarian diet is not a solution.
Yeh I kind of rushed the topic, I was mainly thinking about Polar Bears and Lonesome George while I was typing this, I would really hate to see them go :(
But this question is really for animals that dont have a conservation status, yet!

6. Preserve ecological balance since our ancestors killed all the natural predators (e.g. deer). Also preserve biodiversity - see all those little copses and hedgerows? If it wasn't for hunting it would all be one massive monoculture field.
7. Preserve the rural economy and traditions in a way that is more efficient than paying for it thru tax and spend.
8. Meat that tastes better than the supermarket processed stuff.
Well 6 is working with the past and 7 is pretty much saying 'because we did, we should now', as for 8, imo no one should be eating processed crap anyway.

Edited by: Kalle Demos on 26/11/2010 06:05:11 LEAVE THE POLAR BEARS ALONE
I dont think we will ever run out of Chicken, Lamb, Cow and all the other common livestock but lets assume meat was gone, what would people eat?
I doubt it will be vegetables, since meat is so tasty why go green when you can shoot your neighbour and eat him / her ;)
@ Caldari Citizen, I believe the word you are looking for is 'filled'

It aint rocket science people :)
Ohh I get it, so if an animal is overpopulated and spreading like a disease consuming everything, it is best to hunt and reduce the population.
