Almost every player we recruit only is there to loot us. I've had 5 people join, 2 looted and ran the other 3 are not even playing really.
How can we tell if you are trust worthy, why should I bother recruiting when the only people who want to join, are doing so to loot you!
The only players in our corp now are close friends, and we can't seem to find honest players who want to join and have fun and prosper!
We should impliment some sort of player ratting system, that doesn't have to do with shooting. Sort of like Ebay, you get a lot of +'s and some negs' from jerks, but you are still +.
The sec. rating thing is useless when it comes to thieves.
BTW his name is d0minX. The guy who inspired this post! ---------------------------------------

There are surely enough tools, combined with common sense, to relegate corporate thefts to those of a minor nature?
I find it hard to believe that anbyody would take in an unknown player and then grant them a cart-blanche access to every item in the corp and all its ISK. (Especially one with a love of using numerals in place of letters and an inability to use correct capitalisation - surely a hint there?)
Anyway - I digress.
Other than ammunition surely there is nothing to loot from within a security level 1 corporation's hangar for new members?
Od do people really go "Hey! Here's all my money, ships, items and blueprints - feel free to use any and all of it even though our only contact too-date is via your application eve-mail".
Please tell me the gene-pool is not that shallow yet?
Please?

Well it¦s quite easy. At our corp we have hangars 1 and 2 for the "normal" members. 1 contains ammunition, 2 is filled with pirate loot and other equipment that¦s easy to replace. Everything else is stored in the other 3 hangars and only the people we really trust have access to them.
So even when we recruit someone and he turns out to be a thieve he can¦t steal more than some stuff that would have been recycled anyway sooner or later :)
Also this method helps us to see who is trustworthy and who isn¦t. All you have to do is watch what the people take from the first 2 hangars and from time to time check their personal hangars. If they take more than they need then you know they¦re greedy and you don¦t give them access to better stuff. Simple as that.

I do something similar, I keep the sood stuff seperate in other hangers and give access to the ships and equipment I can afford to loose.

We keep all our rares and minerals in secure hangers, we didn't loose anything important, that's not my main point in this posting.
My main topic was 2 fold, "Where are all the honest new players?" And "We could use a non-combat based rating system" ---------------------------------------

On top of the things said here, our corp. has a recruit period that is an undisclosed amount of time. A recruit only has access to the 1st level of the corp hangar. There, we have some ammo and a small stash of gear that the majority of our corp has outgrown. Seeing how most of the recruits are newer Eve players, this works out well. After the recruit is voted in to the level of pilot, he then gets access to the higher corp levels. But he will never have access to the managing hangars, those are always reserved to the most trusted managing staff of the corp. On another topic, it is not surprising that most of the people you hire into the corp. do not work out. Expect only 5%-10% of all recruits to have the staying power and dedication to be a benefit to the corp. I'm sure all corps. are experiencing this.

For our part, the BSC runs an interview with each applicant, who has to apply through our out-of-game website.
While this cuts down the number of applicants, it does make sure we have a high calibre of player, in terms of attitude.
Oh, and yes, we have a tiered hanger system implemented as most all corps do now. --

One thing we have now implemented is all new members are required to provide us with a screenshot of their character selection screen. This way, if they loot us, we know their other "real characters" and can track them down. So no more of this rob, transfer isk, and deleting character BS.

One useful indicator would be a player's skill value, as shown when purchasing a clone. This would at least give an idea of the amount of time invested in a character.

Yeah we had someone join and clear out our newbie gear hanger telling us it was a 'lesson'. Joke's on him though, anything of any value whatsoever is kept in more secure hangers, so he's out there trying to sell maybe 300k worth of crap equipment. Meanwhile he now has our entire defense wing on the lookout for him and his alts.

Static you may not want to trust that. All I have to do is have a new account, make three characters, send you the screenshot. Delete the other two characters. Rip you off and transfer the stuff to a newly made alt.

You let a guy with a zero in his name in place of an O join your corporation? It sounds like you have learned a valuable lesson, and paid a high price to learn it.
