Only thing I'll say on the subject is about the whole 'I'm a suicide ganker but that doesn't say anything about who I am IRL' argument. Can't agree with that personally, I would never take part in this, much less suicide gank a really expensive ship, because I just wouldn't get any satisfaction from it. I wouldn't enjoy destroying a helpless civilian* target that could, in some cases, represent months worth of effort for the victim.
I'd feel guilty about it, but you suicide gankers don't feel guilty about it, you enjoy destroying civilian targets and profiting from it, you enjoy gloating about it and then you enjoy reading the messages left by your genuinely upset victims afterwards**.
And I am not whining. All of that is fine by me. That is the game, it's an incredibly harsh environment by MMO standards, it's part of what makes EVE so special and keeps a lot of the instant gratification crowd away. It's a game where I'm allowed to be a carebear running away and you're allowed to be a mean old pirate blowing me up. Not that I enjoy being blown up but I accept that that's the risk I run every time I undock and I try to learn from my mistakes.
And the only point I'm trying to make is this: the way you play EVE IS a reflection of who you are as a person IRL, and anyone who claims otherwise is stupid or in denial.
I'm not saying it sums you up, it's not a full psychological profile or anything, but it does reflect a part of your personality: I get my PvP from corp wars, I've been known to let a damaged enemy get away before now and I would never ambush someone who undocked in high sec just looking to make a few ISK (and no, not because of 'honour' or somesuch nonsense, I'd just feel like a jerk for doing it) and that says something about who I am IRL. You guys will do your gank thing, make your damn dirty ISK and have a laugh doing it, good for you and have a nice day but don't deny that that says something about who you are too.
*and don't deny there's any such thing as a 'civilian' target in EVE (I know the rules of the game don't recognise a difference, the difference is in the mind of the player, almost a reflection of who you are IRL you might say), if you genuinely believe there's no difference between someone undocking in a tanked up faction BS in low sec looking for a fight and someone undocking in 1.0 in a marauder looking to make some ISK then guess what: that says something about IRL you too.
**oh and for anyone laughing about what a whinging little carebear $#%@ú! I am, guess what: that says something about you IRL too.
Will not be undocking target ships from 19th to 28th.
