Nobody cared about some backwater system named Jita. If you wanted stuff, you went to Yulai.
There were no cap ships, battlecruisers or destroyers and the only t2 ships were interceptors.
No bubbles in null (which was called 0.0 or zero zero)
15 Harvester drone domis were great mining ships.
No cloaks
No probes
Some meta 4 modules were silly expensive. I remember local hull conversion expanded cargo holds costing 30 mill each, maybe more! One of my corp mates had 5 on an itty V and i thought it was awesome that his ship cost more then a battleship and could hold more then an entire jet can!
Isk was worth somthing, a battleship was expensive and they were not very common. I remmber the first time i saw a megathron, i followed the guy for a few jumps just admiring the thing and telling him how awesome it was. |

Building an outpost (station these days) was a massive undertaking requiring the efforts of a whole alliance. Capital deployment was very rare.
They had static complexes with tornados in them. And not the ship.
There was one supercarrier. A mothership named Hera belonging to The Establishment, and for a while it was unstoppable.

Sadly, they're the jump-in-and-start-shooting type. The old character creation allowed one to do just that... you know the rest.
If I may blaspheme for a moment, but I actually prefer the graphics pre-trinity.
Not out of nostalgia. I barely played before Trinity. But I just prefer the blockier look to it. |

If you don't see a problem in 0.0 eroding into two big super-coalitions and a few hangers on in areas nobody cares about.. then you don't have brains. |

Don't worry. Some things never change. The bigot had his voice removed. Just in the time it took me to see his post, then check his bio to see that he was actually a newish player himself and make a note to never join his corp, then come back to the thread. |

Players who called themselves pirates actually acted like pirates, not bored players harvesting rookie ships and pods because they thought it made them look leet.
You fit whatever you wanted on your ship because it was all you could get.
There was no WTZ but you didn't need it if you knew how to do bookmark fu or how to run.
Missiles were not funny. OK they were unless you were getting hit by them.
Gallente ships only LOOKED like crap.
People actually had real combat instead of Blob/Run away from blob.
You had to have more intelligence than an autistic monkey to use probes. (hence if you can get past the camps, you could actually do stuff outside of highsec)
Ships were so fast the client could not render them fast enough.

CCP Zulu..... Forcing players to dock at the captain's quarters is a form of what we actually wanted to get through, which is making Incarna a seamless part of the EVE Online experience. |

Forgotten, no, but did forget to mention. Can't forget since I still have them in my hanger along with two Breachers with cruise missiles loaded in the launchers. It's a shame we can't at least use them up.
Another thing that hasn't been mentioned...
... we had safe spots 300 AU from any orbital body, and they were safe enough to leave stuff at for YEARS. Who had scanning to lvl 5 to even think about looking for them. No one, that's who.
(I remember being in a fleet that got the worst of a fight up north somewhere, mining system with a station controlled by the enemy , then realizing I had a deep-space safe. Went there in my singed pod and had a Helios floating in space waiting for me from at least a year earlier. HAHAHA! I laughed in TS. I think I may just make it out of this after all, but yeah, you all are screwed.) |

Just a thought and I could be wrong...
...but weren't rigs originally one size; and once CCP decided to make large, medium, and small rigs to fit towards their respected ship size, defaulted all the current rigs in the game to large, including the blue prints? I thought there was discussions about the oddity that the same sized rig doing the same function would work on both a battleship and a frigate (or something similar in nature).
Speaking of various sizes, star gates were all the same size once too. Then CCP made them "different" based on where the gate was launching a ship: next solar system in the same constellation, into a new constellation, etc. And the old gates used to hummingly pulse while spitting out energy as if they were about to burst. |
