Edited by: Sergeant Spot on 30/11/2010 05:34:02 Feature Request - PLAYER passengers
1. Load your pod into the cargo hold of a ship (such loading has to be accepted by the pilot). 2. Your screen sees what the ship pilot sees (minus module layout and module activity, locking data, overview, etc. You just see the space, and how damaged the ship is). 3. Eject from the cargo bay (in your pod) at anytime you want, in station, or in space (normal session timers apply). 4. Be ejected at anytime the pilot wishes to eject you. 5. If pilot logs with you as cargo, you are instantly ejected. 6. If you log while you still are cargo, you are not ejected. 7. You both show up in local. 8. If ship is destroyed while you are cargo, you could die instantly (just like destroyed modules). If your pod survives, you can try and escape normally.
Play nice while you butcher each other.

Because it is a new Idea for a new Feature and there for should be posted in Ships and Modules.
Just incase we want a fitting or information for this non existant game mechanic.

I look forward to the inaugural journey when the ship carrying the passenger pods gets blown up and half of the pods get destroyed due to the loot system

What I want to know is would the surviving pods be ejected in a cargo container with the rest of the ships mods

I guess such a feature would be useful, but would be to a very limited degree. Especially given that almost every reason I could think of really ended up with the response "Why not just use a cheap T1 Frigate with AB/MWD?" especially as let's be honest most T1 Frigates are capable of slipping past any potencial camps except those designed to snare them or in nullsec when bubbles are used; that said if you're in a frigate and a target worth trapping in such a way then you'll either be running in a fleet or not leaving the safety of your alliance sovereignty.
Don't take this as I'm totally opposed to the concept, just that features would need to have a purpose and point.
I'd say for it to be even remotely useful; 1. Passengers should NOT display in local 2. Passengers only receive the "Low Shield, Low Armour, You're Dead!" Alerts
The second one is absolutely crucial because otherwise such a mechanic would be used to infiltrate target ships allowing them to pass information directly to those waiting to ambush them; as such any fitting would be counter-acted.
I know a lot of capsuleers usually run "standard" fits on ships, otherwise usually they are "fail fits" making that point a little irrelivant; still that isn't always the case. Particularly with say a T3 ships, which are becoming increasingly popular to fly.
As stated above, really this sounds more of a novelty than a useful feature.

all carried pods are just dropped out of the ship like as if the ship pilots pod is ejected after ships splosion. I like the idea.

Candy? ----------- Why is it called common sense, when it's clearly very rare.
I had a mind once, but alas, I seem to have forgotten where I left it.

This would make assembling roams several degrees easier. Just last night I helped my guys get a roam started as everyone was all over the place... 3 guys here, 4 guys WAAAY over there somewhere, rest of the guys waiting... Jump calibration 5 beats going 20+ jumps without proper scouting or escort any day.
If this was in, I could have taken their pods to the assembly point too, as right now the standard procedure is to stick the ship in carrier and explode your pod for a shortcut to corp office. This way you might actually dare use some implants every now and again. - This one time, at gate camp, I shot a shuttle... |

Edited by: Romay on 30/11/2010 14:21:52 Make it a special kind of contract. The passenger does not have to be logged in, he can be picked up as long as his pod resides in the station's ship hangar. That way, I'd use it. While I'm at work someone could haul my pod to where I want to play the upcoming evening. As long as I have to be logged in to be transported, I could as well buy a shuttle for a slightly less boring travel experience.
Btw, make it that you rent shuttles instead of buying them, I'm tired of 100s of shuttles showing up in my assets.
IBTM, btw.

Its what Supercarriers should have been in the first place, instead of beefed up IWIN Carriers..
Fit 10-15 player boarded hac's in your SMA and then Hotdrop the SC onto its target and do a real alpha strike..

What I want to know is would the juicy corpses appear? Also, if the pod pilots weren't online at the time of transport and destruction, would the pods stay at the wreck, or warp off? If they stay at the wreck, can I salvage the pods for their juicy frozen corpses? If so, can we come up with a new module called "Corpse Collector"?
Can we just come up with that module anyways?
