This should probably go someplace else but does anyone else find the prospect of a menu which monitors price changes in real time for the eve market to be an awesome idea? I for one would turn to trading if the interface was more real time and I didn't need to refresh every couple minutes to see the changes.

That would put a huge load on the server(s). Imagine 1500 refreshes/second in Jita.

I could see a site w/ a constantly-updated price list for Jita arguably reducing loads on the server. Instead of having to handle constant update queries from players (regardless of whether the status has changed for that item or not), it has to update a single server for every transaction. Then it can let that server handle updating everyone following that item.
Not only that, but then the server doesn't have to handle all the people who hop into Jita to do a quick price check; it can be done quicker and easier another way. *** Wish list for PI:
*One-click input routing *Copy product, inputs & outputs in factories *Launchpad upgrades: twice the space, twice the cost, half the hassle! |

I think in the last several months one of the changes they made was to seperate out character and market type of actions onto different servers, so they are already on a seperate feed reducing main-node lag. I might be wrong but it's in my memory so if I am wrong it's not my fault, blame the little people in my head.

This sounds like a job for a streaming ticker. Maybe cough up a bunch of isk for a temporary ticker which shows a list of items you're interested in.
